Billy Crystal Raced to Help Rob Reiner’s Daughter Before Police Arrived at Grisly Scene

Billy Crystal was spotted at Rob Reiner’s house on the night of Sunday, Dec. 14, after the legendary actor and his wife were tragically murdered.

He was joined by Larry David at the house, with ABC 7 Los Angeles adding that Crystal and David “stayed briefly before departing,” with Crystal being described by a neighbor as looking “like he was about to cry.”

However, more information has come out about Crystal, who, according to TMZ, saw the bodies of Reiner and his wife after they were killed.

“Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ Rob and Michele’s daughter Romy called Crystal and his wife not long after she called police to report finding her parents brutally murdered inside their Brentwood home Sunday,” the outlet wrote. “Sources with direct knowledge tell us Billy and his wife raced over to the house — and were there so quickly, one source tells us — the couple actually saw their slain friends … and wanted to say their goodbyes.”

Reiner had a close bond with Crystal, having worked with him on numerous projects, including “When Harry Met Sally,” where Crystal played the main character, along with “This Is Spinal Tap” where he starred as Morty the Mime, as well as “The Princess Bride,” in which he portrayed Miracle Max.

LAPD Releases Statement On Rob Reiner Case

“Detectives Announce Arrest in the Murder of Robert and Michele Reiner,” the December 15 press release reads.

“Los Angeles: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery Homicide Division (RHD) announce the arrest of Nick Reiner, following the murder of Robert and Michele Reiner.

On December 14, 2025, around 3:40 p.m, Los Angeles Police Department officers assigned to West Los Angeles Division responded to a call of a death investigation in the 200 block of South Chadbourne Avenue. Once inside the residence, officers discovered the two victims, who were subsequently identified as Robert and Michele Reiner. Robbery Homicide Division, Homicide Special Section (RHD/HSS), responded to the residence and initiated an investigation regarding the circumstances of their death.

As a result of the initial investigation, it was deemed that the Reiners were victims of homicide. The investigation further revealed that Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of Robert and Michele Reiner, was responsible for their deaths. Nick Reiner was located and arrested at approximately 9:15 p.m. He was booked for murder and remains in custody with no bail, under Booking Number 7144668. On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, the case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing considerations.”
