The weekend is finally here! Nowâs the perfect time to catch up on your potentially new favorite shows like the oft talked about âSirens.â Or maybe youâre a huge fan of Gordon Ramsay, whoâs new show is as familiar as it is original. Perhaps you want to gorge on every episode of the latest season of âSurvivor.â
Whatever the case, thereâs so much to watch. Youâll never be able to catch up. Here are a few shows and movies to keep on your radar.
âBono: Stories of Surrenderâ (Apple TV+)
Fans of the band U2 who canât get enough of frontman Bono (short for Bonobos) are in for a treat as the singer hosts an intimate one man show to tell the story of his life. Based on the best selling memoir, âSurrender: 40 Songs, One Story,â this feature length documentary covers what made Bono Bono and how the band U2 came to be. Itâs also notably the first Apple TV+ project to be released in Apple Immersive for the Vision Pro.Â
âAdultsâ (Hulu, FX)
This Nick Kroll produced series follows 20-somethings as they navigate life together. The story has been told thousands of times over. What makes this different is the new generation – Gen Z.
âDog Manâ (Peacock)
Fans of Dav Pilkeyâs âCaptain Underpantsâ series will surely enjoy this spinoff featuring the voices of Pete Davidson and Lil Rel Howery. A dog and a man become one to try to stop a talking orange cat. Whatâs not to like?
âCaptain America: Brave New Worldâ (Disney+)
Disney and Marvel continue to milk the Marvel Cinematic Universe by bringing star Anthony Mackieâs Captain America back to the spotlight in his own movie – a followup to the limited series on Disney+. Longtime fans will also be happy to see this offshoot tie into the not-spoken-about-enough 2008 âThe Incredible Hulk.â While most of the actors have been changed from that movie (Edward Norton would drop out of the MCU and be replaced by Mark Ruffalo; Harrison Ford takes over a role the late William Hurt originated), this action packed return will be enough for fans to enjoy.
âThe Better Sisterâ (Prime Video)
Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks star in a pulpy thriller based on the 2019 novel of the same name. Director Craig Gillespie (âYour Friends and Neighborsâ) captures the tense moments as the women come together to figure out a murder that hits close to home.
âMike Birbiglia: The Good Lifeâ (Netflix)
Comedian and storyteller Mike Birbiglia continues to tell stories about his life using a simple stage set up for a successfully toured one man show. This one covers fatherhood and the modern angles surrounding it.
French Open, LPGA Womenâs Open, Knicks vs Pacers
Itâs the time of year when a confluence of sporting events come together to monopolize fansâ time. The French Open has already seen Richard Gasquet ending his career in a loss to Jannik Sinner and American Taylor Fritz be sent home on day one. Then thereâs the U.S. Womenâs Open where Lydia Ko is predicted to play it big while Nelly Korda just needs to play. Finally, thereâs the NBA Playoffs. The New York Knicks continue to stun a seemingly indifferent Indiana Pacers. With one or two games left, can New York get Indiana to choke?
