Brad Pitt’s early 2000s buzz cut is one of our favorite acting periods for the star. Most notably, he starred in “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” with his future wife, and later ex-wife, Angelina Jolie. He also starred in “Ocean’s Twelve” and formed a lifelong friendship with George Clooney.
Then suddenly, 20 years later, it returned. Fans loved seeing Pitt sport the sexy hairstyle for “F1” promo photos and on the red carpet. But we had to wonder — why now? It seems there’s a reason for the return of the buzz cut, and it all has to do with a film role.
Brad Pitt Just Gave a Major Hint About the Reason for His New Look
On June 16, Pitt and girlfriend Ines de Ramon made their red carpet debut at the New York City premiere of the racing film “F1.” Of course, his newest haircut also came up in interviews. “I just finished a job,” he told People. “It’s for a character we did.”
Pitt has four upcoming movies, in addition to “F1.” As we narrow down the possibilities, we notice that “The Riders,” “The Adventures of Cliff Booth,” and “Land of Opportunity” don’t seem to fit, as they’re all still in pre-production. Which leaves “Heart of the Beast.”
Directed by David Ayer, Pitt plays a former Army Special Forces soldier alongside J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe. While we don’t have confirmation that this is the role he just finished, the film is in post-production. And what better role to shave your head than playing a soldier?
Then again, it’s also possible that he did it for a commercial or a project we’re not yet aware of. We’ll have to wait and see.
Brad Pitt Shares His Most Memorable Moments While Filming ‘F1’ on Iconic Tracks
Pitt, who has been trying to make a racing movie for decades, previously referred to making “F1” as a dream come true. When asked what his favorite memories were from filming, he realized that he made too many to count. âI got a lot,â he admitted.
But getting a chance to drive on some of the most famous race tracks in the world was up there. âI got a lot [of favorite memories], but every time I got in the car, these tracks are just like hallowed ground. Silverstone. Spa in Belgium was the most memorable. Abu Dhabi. We really got spoiled.â
And, in comparison to driving in the city and real life, racing is, surprisingly, much more relaxing for the “Legends of the Fall” actor. âThere’s a strange calm in the car when you’re hitting everything,â he said. âYou’re hitting your breaking points and hitting your turning points. It’s such a piece. I can’t even describe it. Yeah, it’s incredible.â “F1” will debut in theaters on June 27 — the same weekend as the Austrian Grand Prix.
