In her campaign announcement, Kimes, 54, said she wanted to make sure that people from her community were having their voices heard in the state house.

“I’ve seen firsthand how our communities are being left behind — in healthcare, education, entrepreneurship, and justice,” she wrote on <a href=”https://www.instagram.com/p/DL1GXYRM2rp/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Instagram. “I’m stepping up to make sure our voices are not only heard, but respected under the Gold Dome.”

Kimes, a dentist, is focused on healthcare access, criminal justice reform, education, and the economy, according to her <a href=”http://drheavenlyforgeorgia.com/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>campaign website. In a video shared on social media, she specifically called out Donald Trump’s recently passed “Big Beautiful Bill,” which gutted programs like Medicaid and SNAP (aka food stamps), calling it “ugly.”

“Healthcare should not be a luxury,” she said in another video. “It is a right.”

“This isn’t just politics — this is purpose. I’m serious about bringing hope and real change to our communities. Our people need resources, opportunity, and representation that truly sees them,” she wrote in another <a href=”https://www.instagram.com/p/DL40okbsfVG/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>post.

Kimes’ campaign is already garnering support from some fellow reality stars. She’s received supportive comments from Destiny Payton of Love & Marriage: Huntsville, Drew Sidora from The Real Housewives of Atlanta, and her Married to Medicine co-star Quad Webb.
Kimes has been a main cast member on Married to Medicine since 2014. She is just the latest reality TV figure to jump into politics. Thomas Ravenel from Southern Charm had said he planned to run for governor of South Carolina in 2026, though he later decided not to enter the race. And Savannah Chrisley, who appeared on Chrisley Knows Best and Growing Up Chrisley, recently hinted that she’s considered running for office as well.

Other reality stars who’ve launched political campaigns include 19 Kids and Counting alum Jed Duggar, who lost a 2020 bid for Arkansas State Representative; Real World star Sean Duffy, who served in Congress before becoming the current Secretary of Transportation; Caitlyn Jenner of The Kardashians, who took a shot at becoming Governor of California; and of course, The Apprentice star turned president, Donald Trump.
