Bad Day For the Cut is a Netflix hidden gem with a huge score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Northern Irish crime thriller was released in 2017 and received rave reviews from critics who applauded the 99-minute piece.

Starring Nigel O’Neill, Susan Lynch and Józef Pawlowski, the film follows a mild-mannered farmer named Donal who finds his elderly mother murdered in what appears to be a home invasion.

When masked thugs then try to kill him in a botched staged suicide, he escapes with his life and embarks on a quest to avenge her.

Donal’s quest then leads him to discover the dark truth about her past as he locks horns with the criminal underworld of Belfast, Ireland.

The film has received a 92% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes – certifying that it is a fantastic watch and a gripping thriller.

The revenge thriller directed by Chris Baugh didn’t receive a theatrical rollout which could explain why so many viewers are unaware of the hidden gem.

The film first found its way onto Netflix in 2018, seemingly hiding on the platform waiting to be discovered.

Irish films have been in high demand and highly applauded in recent years with praise aimed at The Banshees of Inisherin, Kneecap and Calm With Horses.

Netflix has released several fantastic films on their platform recently including Rob Peace which also has a high Rotten Tomatoes score.

Similarly, Alita: Battle Angel was slammed as a ‘creepy’ sci-fi movie’ but became a huge hit after launching on Netflix five years after its initial release.

Bad Day For The Cut is available to stream on Netflix now.
