Turns out, Britney Spearsâ âOops!… I Did It Againâ is now part of the soundtrack to M3GAN’s latest rampage. Yep, you heard me! That nostalgic pop anthem has been paired with a doll whoâs more than happy to break a few necks. And for some reason? Itâs perfection.
When Pop Goes Horror
If youâre already familiar with âM3GAN,â you know that this isnât your typical doll. Sheâs got AI programmed to protect, but we all know what happens when technology goes rogue. And just when you thought you had a grip on the chaos? âM3GAN 2.0â hits us with a game-changing move; Britneyâs iconic track gets a sinister twist (and so does the film). An upbeat, nostalgic pop hit mixed with a murderous, malfunctioning doll⦠t shouldnât work, but somehow, itâs chefâs kiss.
I mean, who thought weâd ever see Britney in the same sentence as âHorror Film Soundtrackâ? If this doesnât scream âunexpected genius,â I donât know what does. The trackâs bouncy beat is all fun and games until a robot enters the scene (and this time, it isnât just M3GAN), giving it a whole new eerie vibe. You know that feeling when a pop song gets stuck in your head for days? Well, prepare to have that happening while youâre also wondering if your gadgets are plotting against you. Classic.
Fans Are Losing It
Of course, the fan reactions to the âM3GAN 2.0â trailer have been outstanding as well. The internet is absolutely buzzing, with everyone from die-hard Britney fans to horror lovers sharing their disbelief and excitement.
One fan even went so far as to compare M3GAN’s character arc between the films to that of the Terminator.
“Is anyone else getting Terminator 1 to Terminator 2 vibes from the Megan sequel trailer? Terminator 1 could easily be labeled as a horror movie but the 2nd one was definitely a block buster action film. Not to mention it looks like Megan is gonna be the hero of this movie instead of the villain like she was in the first. Same as the T-800 in Terminator.”
Leading another fan to explain why they like the direction the new movie is taking.
“I like the idea of taking the concept in a completely different direction. This could very easily have been “Megan’s programming goes haywire and she kills people…….AGAIN.” Instead, it looks/feels like they took the characters and ideas of the first movie and dropped it into a completely different genre. It’s such a great move, and has me really interested when I otherwise wouldn’t have been, and I liked the first movie for what it was.”
It seems like the creators want viewers to question how far this film will push the boundaries of horror while giving a cheeky nod to pop culture in ways we never expected.
