Brooke Hogan shared a deeply personal and heartfelt tribute to her dad Hulk Hogan on July 29. She took to Instagram to pen a message detailing what her father meant to her. “My dad’s blood runs through my veins. His eyes shine through my children. And our bond has never broken, not even in his final moments,” she wrote.
“I am so grateful I knew the real version of him,” Brooke continued. “We shared a quiet, sacred bond … When he left this earth, it felt like part of my spirit left with him. I felt it before the news even reached us,” she revealed.
Hulk Hogan passed away on July 24 at his Clearwater, Florida home. The wrestling legend, who was 71, died of cardiac arrest after struggling with various health issues.
“I know he’s at peace now, out of pain, and in a place as beautiful as he imagined,” Brooke wrote in her post. “He used to speak about this moment with such wonder and hope. Like meeting God was the greatest championship he’d ever have.”
Brooke Hogan Cleared Up Rumors of a Feud
While it appears to be true that Brooke and her father were estranged for several years before Hulk’s passing, she took the time to explain that there had been no feud happening between them.
“My father and I never ‘fought,’” Brooke wrote. “It was a series of private phone calls no one will ever hear, know, or understand.” She went on to explain that she and her dad had “respectful disagreements” and that, “During the last two years, I had to step away to protect my heart.”
She said that her husband, Steven Oleksy, continued to stay in touch with her father, and that reading their messages after his passing was heartbreaking. “I know in my heart I did everything I could,” Brooke wrote. “He knows how deeply, how hard and how purely I loved him. I am at peace knowing this.”
Brooke Hogan’s Sweet Memories of Her Dad
In Brooke’s post, she shared some of her most cherished memories with her father. “I will remember watching him build my Barbie dream houses, our jet ski rides, laughing ’til we cried when no one else got the joke …,” she wrote.
“His hugs were my home,” she continued. “Wrapping my arms around his big frame always made me feel like his little girl, even as I grew up,” she shared.
Hulk’s real name was Terry Gene Bollea, and Brooke revealed that her daughter Molly Gene is named after him. “I feel his presence in my children,” she wrote.
Brooke concluded her post by thanking fans and friends for their love and support. “His life was one worth celebrating,” she wrote, “and always will be.”
