Brooke Hogan chose not to attend the funeral of her dad Hulk Hogan, opting for a private celebration of his life instead.
In an August 6 Instagram post Brooke shared a carousel of photos of her and her husband and their twin babies, Oliver and Molly, on a peaceful sunlit beach. “Daddy, we honored you in the simplest way that agreed with my soul,” Brooke captioned the post. “We took our babies to the beach, and put them in the same salty waters you loved.”
Brooke Hogan Knew What Her Father Wanted
Brooke’s choice to celebrate her dad privately was heartfelt, but also in keeping with how well she knew him. “My father hated the morbidity of funerals. He didn’t want one,” she wrote.
Brooke expressed her gratitude for the events held to honor her father’s legendary wrestling legacy but explained, “I had to make my own decision to honor him the best and most genuine way I knew how … privately … the way that made me feel the closest to him.”
Hulk Hogan’s private funeral was held August 5 in Clearwater, Florida. According to People, WWE figures Triple H and Stephanie McMahon were in attendance as were musician Kid Rock and podcaster Theo Von.
But Brooke and her husband, former NHL player Steven Oleksy, opted to spend the day at the seashore, remembering Hulk in their own way. “The only thing missing today was him in is pop up lawn chair watching the waves … and the sunset ð,” Brooke wrote.
Brooke Hogan Has The Sweetest Memories of Her Dad
Bringing her twin babies to the beach in lieu of attending her father’s funeral seemed to allow Brooke to conjure the most special memories of their time together.
In an earlier post, Brooke wrote about how her love for her dad lives on through her children. “I feel his presence in my children,” she shared. “He lives through me, and through them.” She also spoke about her daughter Molly Gene being named after her dad, whose given name was Terry Gene Bollea.
“Molly loved the water. I think she’ll be a ‘little fish’ as you called me,” Brooke penned in the caption of her newest post … Every grain of sand and every wave reminded me of being your beach baby, and brought us closer to you.”
Brooke concluded with a touching message: “I pray you are at peace and know how dearly I love you. Rest in heaven, Daddyâ¤ï¸.”
