Bruce Willis & Emma Heming Willis’ Rare, Never-Before-Seen Wedding Photos

Powerful love defines Bruce Willis and Emma Heming Willis’ relationship almost perfectly. The couple first crossed paths in 2007, and sparks flew instantly.

Just a year later, by January 2008, Heming Willis was by his side at the Sundance premiere of “What Just Happened?”, marking their public debut as a couple.

“When we first met, I was surprised at how charming and how funny he was – and extremely handsome,” Heming Willis told People. Willis added, “I was already in love with her.”

The couple tied the knot in March 2009 during a private ceremony in Turks and Caicos, surrounded by family and close friends.

Building a Family Together

After their 2009 wedding, Willis and Heming Willis stepped onto the red carpet as husband and wife at the Met Gala, glowing as newlyweds. Their family soon grew.

In April 2012, they welcomed their first daughter, Mabel Ray, followed by Evelyn Penn in May 2014.

Heming Willis also embraced her role as stepmother to Willis’ daughters Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah, whom he shares with ex-wife Demi Moore.

In 2011, a rep for Willis confirmed their first pregnancy, saying the couple was “overjoyed” and eager to welcome their new addition.

By the time Evelyn arrived in 2014, the family of seven was complete.

Facing Health Struggles Together

In March 2022, Heming Willis revealed that Willis was stepping away from acting after being diagnosed with aphasia, which later progressed to frontotemporal dementia.

“To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family, we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities. As a result of this and with much consideratio,n Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him,” the family’s statement read.

Heming Willis has stood firmly by his side, calling him her “North Star” in a June 2022 Instagram tribute.

“He’s always been led by his passion and has never let naysayers stop him from, well, anything,” she wrote alongside a video of Willis singing “Under the Boardwalk” with The Temptations.

Celebrating 16 Years of Marriage

On March 21, 2025, Willis and Heming Willis marked their 16th wedding anniversary. Heming Willis shared a heartfelt throwback photo on Instagram with the caption:

“We’ve shared monumental highs and devastating lows, and through it all, we’ve built something timeless. I’m so deeply grateful for every chapter I’ve had with him — and all the ones we’ll continue to write, in our language of unconditional love.”

In a new Diane Sawyer special, Heming Willis reflects on her family’s journey since Willis’ diagnosis and opens up about her caregiving experience. Her upcoming book, The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope, and Yourself on the Caregiving Path, is meant to guide and inspire families facing similar struggles.

“Bruce is still very mobile. Bruce is in really great health overall, you know,” Heming Willis said in a preview on Good Morning America. “It’s just his brain that is failing him.”
