Thereâs only so many hours in a day to watch your favorite shows and movies.
Couple that with how many new things are dropped on a daily basis and youâll never catch up. Thatâs why itâs better to know whatâs worth the watch right now versus whatâs okay to let sit in the queue.
Lucky for you, the choices have been made. Hereâs what to check out this weekend.
âThe Bearâ (Hulu)
Whether you believe âThe Bearâ to be a comedy or not, the show is back for a fourth (and maybe final) season. Itâs main three cast members – Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach – are bonafide stars at the moment. Surely they canât come back to do another dinky season of a great show when they could be making indie flicks, Oscar hopefuls and Marvel movies. Nothing is for certain. What is, though, is another set of episodes for you to say âYes Jeffâ over and over to.
âF1 the Movieâ (Theaters)
Brad Pitt in a racing suit. My goodness! While the story is textbook – older racer helps younger racer – the star power behind this movie is nothing short of WOW. Pitt is joined by Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, and Javier Bardem. Director Joseph Kosinski (âTop Gun Maverickâ) has proven himself to be someone who is capable of show viewers how real horsepower can be put on screen. Apple might finally have a for real big time movie on their hands. But go see it in theaters; donât wait for it to hit Apple TV+. We need more movies like this.
âCountdownâ (Prime Video)
There are three constants in this world: death; taxes; and if you put Jensen Ackles in a show, people will watch. The âSupernaturalâ actor is back leading a series from âChicagoâ universe writer Derek Haas. Ackles takes on the role of Detective Mark Meachum who works for the LAPD and is more cowboy than cop. Heâs joined by a solid cast including Violett Beane, Jessica Camacho, Uli Latukefu and Eric Dane. With a tagline like âEvery Second Counts,â all 13 episodes are bound to be jam packed with bits of fun and intrigue.
âIronheartâ (Disney+)
Iron Man gets a mini-me in a return to Marvel shows. Thankfully, even though there are dozens of movies and shows for this universe, fans will only need to know the Iron Man character and the second âBlack Pantherâ movie in order to have a good time. Dominique Thorne stars as Riri WIlliams who becomes the titular Ironheart, Chicagoâs newest hero. The cast looks very busy with the likes of Anthony Ramos – who plays the villain, The Hood – as well as Eric Andre, Cree Summer, Alden Ehrenreich and others. Thereâs several references to the âIron Manâ movies. Itâll be interesting to see how this plays into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole.
âThe Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movieâ (Max)
The movie that was made and sent to the grave only to be resurrected and released in theaters is finally on streaming. This Looney Tunes movie has been through a lot. Voice actor Eric Bauza took on the leading roles of Daffy Duck and Porky Pig in an excellent animated adventure that received the short end of the stick thanks to Warner Bros. Discoveryâs poor decision making. Watch this movie. Period.
