Carol Burnett and Vicki Lawrence are entertainment icons and first worked together in 1967 on “The Carol Burnett Show.” Now, decades later, they are back together again, this time in Apple TV’s “Palm Royale.”
Burnett has been a cast member of “Palm Royale” since its 2024 premiere. Now, Lawrence has joined the show’s second season, playing the mother of Burnett’s character.
Burnett said to Parade, “Being with Vicki again was like old times. I mean, it was as if all the years had not passed, and here we are again together.”
She then said the showrunner for “Palm Royale,” Abe Sylvia, was how the reunion came to be. According to Burnett, he asked, “How would you feel if we have Vicki on?” She recalled responding, “Of course, I was thinking the same thing.
So it was really such fun. And when she showed up on the set, you know, it was, as I say, itâs like the years just washed away. And here we were again, you know, Carol and Vicki together.
What happened was Abe Sylvia called Vicki and said, ‘Okay, we would like you to be on the show, and youâll be Carolâs mother.’ And Vicki said, ‘So what else is new?’”
From there, Burnett spoke of their legacy together, saying, “Here she was playing my mother on my show when we did ‘The Family’ sketches. She was 24 years old when she played mama, when we first cast her.”
Vicki Lawrence also Spoke About Reuniting with Carol Burnett
GettyLawrence spoke to TV Insider in December 2025 about her reunion with Burnett on Apple’s “Palm Royale.” The “Mama’s Family” actress said, “I feel like I was right back where I always was. It was very comfortable and so good to see Carol, and so good to meet all those lovely ladies that Iâm a fan of. It was a fun set, a fun group.”
She discussed her current relationship with Burnett, saying, “I see her quite often. I go up north and visit her in Santa Barbara. We laugh a lot. We went to one of the local restaurants one night, and she invited some friends. When we left, the maitre dâ said, ‘I havenât heard that much laughter in this restaurant ever.’ Itâs always good to see her and reminisce about the good old days.”
In additon to her guest starring role on “Palm Royale,” Lawrence also recently appeared in “Lopez vs. Lopez,” “Monster,” and “The Really Loud House.”
‘Palm Royale’ Has an Impressive Cast
Getty“Palm Royale” premiered on Apple TV in March 2024. The show stars Kristen Wiig, Leslie Bibb, Ricky Martin, Allison Janney, and Josh Lucas, in additon to Burnett. The series is currently in its second season, which premiered in November 2025.
Apple hasn’t renewed it for a third season as of writing.
