Catherine Zeta-Jones just well and truly showed her privilege.

The Chicago star, 55, has been doing the media rounds of late to promote the second season of Wednesday, in which she stars as Morticia Addams alongside Jenna Ortega as the titular character.

In one of the interviews, the Welsh actor opened up about her living situation – which spans three countries, two continents, and four homes – with her husband Michael Douglas.

But she insists her two New York homes, one Canada bolthole and her house in Spain are ‘not excessive’ but simply ‘very comfortable’.

‘I know it sounds very jet set, and I love to surround myself with beauty but it’s not excessive, it’s very comfortable,’ Catherine told The Times in a recent interview.

By her own merits Catherine is reportedly worth £150,000,000 and together her combined assets with Basic Instinct actor Michael, 80, are thought to be £350milion.

Discussing their marriage, Catherine said: ‘We are very similar; we were born on the same day, 25 years apart. We’re not afraid to be verbal, to express ourselves. I wear everything on my sleeve and so does he, which is good.’

The pair have also now been married for almost 25 years, having tied the knot at the Plaza Hotel in New York City in 2001. Celebrity guests in attendance included Tom Hanks, Whoopi Goldberg, Anthony Hopkins, and Brad Pitt.

Catherine and Michael – who share two children Dylan, 25, and Carys, 22 – met at Delaware Film Festival in 1998, while she was promoting The Mask of Zorro and he was working on A Perfect Murder.

Having seen Catherine in her role as Elena Montero in the hit film, Michael asked his publicist to set up a meeting at a bar, where he was a ‘total gentleman’, he reflected on The Jonathan Ross Show.

The first date didn’t go quite as planned though, as Michael boldly proclaimed he was going to be the father of her children and she made a swift exit. But a year later they were engaged, with Michael popping the question on New Year’s Eve.

In 2013, Catherine and Michael announced their split with sources claiming stress over his throat cancer journey (which he was free of in 2011) and her struggles with bipolar II disorder were behind the shock news.

However, a year later they had reconciled. Talking on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Michael said relationships ‘can’t be a one way street’ but he is ‘crazy about’ Catherine.

‘I think every couple has their difficult times. The only problem is, as you well know, we’re all in the public eye, and it tends to get a little more exposed than most,’ he said, confirming: ‘We’re back stronger than ever.’

Catherine’s Wednesday release comes after Michael said he had ‘no real intentions’ of ever acting again.

After making his first on-screen appearance in 1966, the actor has explained why he thinks his 2025 role in Looking Through Water could be his last on-screen appearance.

While at the conference at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic, Michael explained: ‘I have not worked since 2022 purposefully because I realised I had to stop.

‘I had been working pretty hard for almost 60 years, and I did not want to be one of those people who dropped dead on the set. I have no real intentions of going back,’ he said per Variety.

He clarified: ‘I say I’m not retired because if something special came up, I’d go back, but otherwise, no.’
