Celebrity Traitors fan spots ‘smoking gun’ moment Jonathan Ross gave everything away

Jonathan Ross might have lasted this long as a scheming murderer in this year’s Celebrity Traitors, but his time is limited if his recent suspected colossal slip up is anything to go by.

A Celebrity Traitors fan has spotted the moment in last week’s episode in which the TV presenter, 64, appeared to pretty much tell the other contestants he was a traitor, responsible for killing off faithful contestants including Olympian Tom Daley and sports legend Clare Balding, with the help of his fellow hooded plotters Cat Burns and Alan Carr.

In a moment not spotted by other usually eagle-eyed fans, Jonathan was chatting in the kitchen with Celia Imrie, Kate Garraway, Nick Mohammed and Stephen Fry.

QI whiz Stephen pointed out that if someone is murdered that evening, a quarter of the whole group ‘will be traitors’.

While Jonathan could have blended in with the crowd and nodded along, he decided to pipe up and appeared to say: ‘There could be more though, because it could be four or five of us.’

X user Matty Walton picked up on the comment and took to the social media platform to say: ‘How did nobody pick up on this? Talking about the amount of traitors, Jonathan said “there could be 4 or 5 of us” Smoking gun!’

There’s room for debate though, as some in the Metro newsroom can hear him say ‘them’ not us – as Jonathan’s mouth was full at the end of the sentence.

Plus, Jonathan could have been talking about ‘us’ as the collective contestants – faithful or traitor – rather than just speaking as a traitor (which of course, he is), if he were forced to defend the blunder.

The BBC’s subtitle team also appears to be remaining neutral, as the visual description of the conversation cuts off after the word ‘five’.

Luckily for Jonathan, none of the faithfuls he was talking to appeared to have an iota…

It’s tense times in the Scottish castle, after fan favourites including actor Ruth Codd and comedian Tameka Empson, Clare, Tom, and Paloma Faith were all banished from the house by fellow contestants or murdered in the night by the traitors.

Remaining celebrities are yet to wean out just one traitor, although suspicions are closing in on Jonathan, who is playing it very cool under the pressure of his devious role, even when he double-bluffed players and murdered Ruth – his most vocal accuser – and claimed to have been set up.

However, eyebrows were also raised when Jonathan happily gave up a shield protection – gold dust for any true faithful – to Stephen in last week’s challenge, a point that will surely be raised in the next few nights.

Elsewhere, comedian Joe Wilkinson and former rugby professional Joe Marler coined their own theory: that producers of the show would want to pit ‘two big dogs’ against each other, like Stephen and Jonathan, choosing one as a traitor and one a faithful.

However, contestants are struggling to follow through on their hunches, and instead, just like in the normal Traitors, chaos prevails even among the stars as diversion tactics prove fruitful, and the traitors camp remains full.

Elsewhere, Alan is adding some serious comic value on the show, with ticklish outbursts when players are murdered – something the faithful contestants, perhaps underestimating the comedian, have also failed to notice.

Adding to the enjoyment of the series, last week fans called for actress Celia to get a Bafta, after she let out a perfectly timed fart and confessed to that particular crime against the senses.

‘What just happened?’ host Claudia Winkleman asked with an amused smile, before national treasure Celia bravely admitted: ‘I just farted, Claudia. ‘I’m so sorry. It’s nerves, but I always own up.’
