So far in Celebrity Traitors Cat Burns has been secretive and steely, but fans of the BBC show missed a crucial moment in last night’s show which could have totally blown her cover.

As the People Pleaser singer, 25, wobbled on the bridge during last night’s challenge – Claudia Winkleman made a comment that could have given her away.

As the final approaches, the Faithfuls are clutching at straws, clinging onto the smallest signs that they believe might give away a Traitor.

One thing they like to jump on is a ‘change in behaviour’. Sometimes all it takes to prompt an onslaught of questioning is a change in facial expression, an exaggerated use of language (‘flabbergasted’), or an incorrect answer during a mission.

Or when David Olusoga spoke more than normal at the round table or when Mark ‘over-reacted’ during a banishment.

So did Claudia nearly give Cat away in last night’s episode for making an observation about her behaviour? As Cat’s knees were knocking on the wobbly bridge during the challenge, host Claudia said: ‘This is a new side to Cat, I’m gonna be honest.’

It then cut to fellow Traitor Jonathan Ross, who defended Cat, saying: ‘But you know, it must be terrifying.’

The aim of the challenge was to get money in the prize pot, and be in with the chance of winning a shield – something Cat doesn’t need as a Traitor.

She’s been a cool, calm and collected presence around the castle, often dodging suspicion because of her unflappability.

So this new side to Cat, as she attempted to cross the rickety bridge to get to the other side, could have come at a shock to the team.

One thing she probably wouldn’t have wanted at this stage in the game, is somebody drawing attention to anything that could be construed as out of character, overplayed, or fake.

Claudia has spoken in the past about the challenges of being a host on a show which relies on so much bluffing and secrecy.

She recalls knowing she was working on a special show, when executive producer, Sarah Fay, told Claudia to ‘watch’ her breathing, so as not to give anything away.

Speaking at the 2023 Broadcasting Press Guild Awards in London, Claudia said: ‘I’ll never forget when Will and Amanda both evicted Alyssa – when they turned on a fellow traitor,

‘I just heard in my ear, very quietly, “Watch your breathing.” And I thought, this is something else. I don’t know what is happening, but this is something.’
