The most anticipated reality show of the year is said to have been renewed for a second season before the first has even aired.

Celebrity Traitors hype is at a fever pitch, ever since the line-up was confirmed with huge showbiz names like Stephen Fry, Charlotte Church and Nick Mohammed set to appear.

The inaugural celebrity spin-off of the show will air this autumn, with filming at the infamous Scottish castle already wrapped up.

But it has now been reported that the show is set to return for a second season before we’ve even crowned the first Celebrity Traitors victor, pointing to the BBC’s faith in the show’s success.

A source told The Sun: ‘They haven’t seen the viewer reaction yet but bosses have watched early edits of the first series now that filming has wrapped and it’s exceeded all their wildest expectations.

‘They are thrilled with it and hastily commissioned another run.’

The source went on to say that the Celebrity Traitors booking team are already hitting the phones to assemble the cast list for the next season, with a goal of signing up ‘even bigger A-listers than the first series’.

The source added: ‘They have their work cut out for them but stars are clamoring to head to the castle, so it shouldn’t be too difficult. This is the show they all want to be on.’

The celebrities will be divided up into the Traitors and the Faithful in the hopes of winning a cash prize up to £100,000 for a charity of their choice.

The BBC One reality show smash has assembled a line-up of 19 famous faces, including household names like Alan Carr and Kate Garraway, to decamp via steam train to the Scottish Highlands.

The celebrities will be divided up into the Traitors and the Faithful in the hopes of winning a cash prize up to £100,000 for a charity of their choice.

The cast photos with their idiosyncratic angles have been assembled on the Scottish castle wall, waiting to see which will be dropped to the floor first by host Claudia Winkleman. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait a few more months yet to find out.

Metro contacted the BBC, who declined to comment.

Celebrity Traitors will air on the BBC and iPlayer this autumn.
