Charlie Sheen is getting candid about his love life and how being single has affected his sobriety. The actor has been married three times, most recently to Brooke Mueller whom he divorced in 2011.
âMy romantic life is as uneventful as it possibly could be,” Sheen, 60, shared with People. “Itâs been that way for a long time.” According to the “Two and a Half Men” actor, the lull in his love life came along with quitting drinking in 2017.
“I spent so much time and energy chasing that for so long,” Sheen explained. “I had to get to a place where I could be alone, but not lonely. I’m there now, which is pretty cool.â
Another factor that led to Sheen staying single was the fact that his children had been living with him on and off for years. He shares two daughters, Sami, 21, and Lola, 20, with ex-wife Denise Richards. He shares two sons with Mueller, twins Bob and Max, 17. Sheen also shares a daughter Cassandra Estevez, 40, with his ex-girlfriend Paula Profit whom he dated while in high school.
Sheen Is Not Looking to Get Married Again
GettySheen’s marriages to both Richards and Mueller ended in difficult divorces, but that doesn’t mean Sheen has sworn off romantic relationships altogether.
âI am open to love again. If somebody walked through the door and it was the right time and you can’t deny it … absolutely,” the actor revealed, adding, “Probably not marriage, though.â
Despite his messy divorces, Sheen is now in a much better place with Richards and Mueller. âI think everybodyâs just tired of bad energy,â he said. âYou kind of run out of steam for that.â
Richards and Sheen even reunited for the premiere of the Netflix documentary “aka Charlie Sheen” on September 4, and seemed very happy to share the spotlight together again.
Richards commemorated the evening with an Instagram carousel of pics and a video, which she captioned in part, “What a journey weâve had- so many ups and downs. But when life gets tough, deep down we both know we can count on each other … Congrats, Charles â¤ï¸.”
Sheen Is Opening Up in a Documentary & Memoir
Sheen, the son of actor Martin Sheen, began acting in the ’70s and starred in films like “Platoon” and “Wall Street.” But his talent was often overshadowed by his struggles with substance issues and his high-profile relationships.
Now Sheen is opening up about his long career and his personal battles in the documentary “aka Charlie Sheen” and his memoir “The Book of Sheen” which will be released on September 9.
Sheen seems to finally be taking the narrative of his life into his own hands. “I’m not going to run from my past, or let it own me,” he told People.
