On Sunday night, fans of The Masked Singer UK were shocked to learn the real identity of Tea Bag.
Despite being a chart-topping musician, the man behind the mask has admitted that he ‘can’t sing’.
The Masked Singer sees famous celebrities conceal their identities behind costumes as a line-up of celebrity judges tries to work out who they are.
This weekend, Tea Bag ended up in the bottom two alongside Yak after singing Deep Blue Something’s 1996 number one single Breakfast At Tiffany’s.
Following the announcement that he would be the second contestant to leave the show after BBC One’s Alex Jones was eliminated last week, his identity was revealed.
Tea Bag was hit-making rapper Professor Green, who acknowledged after being knocked out that he ‘can’t believe’ and ‘can believe’ the public’s decision.
‘I can’t believe it. Well, I can believe it, but I can’t believe it. I thought people would have enjoyed the Tea-Bag. It was quite scary.
‘[But] I know four of the panel, over the last 15 years. I’ve seen all of them multiple times, and quite regularly at times, and none of them were anywhere near [guessing it was me].’
He continued: ‘I was laughing behind the mask. I just thought surely one of them is going to get it. But no-one guessed.’
When asked if he’d enjoyed his time on the show, Pro Green (whose real name is Stephen Anderson) said he had, and was pleased that he’s now at a point where he doesn’t have to take himself too seriously.
Who’s still in the running to win The Masked Singer UK 2026?
The celebrities still competing to win The Masked Singer UK 2026 are:
- Arctic Fox
- Can of Worms
- Conkers
- Gargoyle
- Monkey Business
- Moth
- Red Panda
- Sloth
- Toastie
- Yak
‘What a nice place to be in. To get to a point in my career where I can say, “Yeah, I’ll do that”. Where I don’t take myself too seriously. I don’t know if I ever did.
‘I probably would have done this 15 years ago to be fair. I was petrified. I can’t sing. I was trying to sing in RP [received pronunciation], I can’t even talk in RP.’
What songs is Professor Green known for?
Pro Green rose to fame in the early 2010s thanks to songs like I Need You Tonight and Just Be Good to Green, before landing his first number one in 2011.
That number one single was Read All About It, alongside Emeli Sande, which stayed at number one for two weeks and was eventually certified Platinum in the UK.
Another version of Read All About It was released by Emeli Sande on her own, without Pro Green’s vocals, in 2012 – that reached number three on the UK charts.
Pro Green becomes the second person to leave The Masked Singer UK in 2026, with The One Show’s Alex Jones having been unmasked in the first week.
After leaving the show, she said: ‘I have had a lot of fun. We love this programme as a family, and I just thought it would be a lot of fun and that to do it for my children would be wonderful.’
