Christina Aguilera has started 2025 as she means to go on – by effortlessly shutting down criticism and urging fans to learn to ‘accept’ themselves.
The 44-year-old has barely left the spotlight since bursting onto the scene in the late 90s, dropping hits including Genie in a Bottle, Lady Marmalade, Dirrty and Beautiful in that time.
Xtina had all eyes on her last year thanks to a coveted Las Vegas residency, but was met with intense scrutiny over her ‘different’ appearance.
Having absolutely none of it, the music icon shared a video on December 31, which began with a round-up of comments she had received from fans and trolls, dissecting what had changed with her looks.
‘Who is that,’ a follower questioned, while another stated: ‘I didn’t realize that was Christina she looks so different.’
A social media user insisted: ‘There’s no way she’s in her 40s.’

‘Who is this again!? Because the caption said Christina Aguilera, but this girl ain’t her [sic],’ one queried.
The footage quickly changed tone to a montage of some of Christina’s best moments over the last 12 months, as she commemorated a successful 2024.
‘This year, doing something a little different. This is a reminder to everyone that you are your OWN STORYTELLER in your OWN LIFE,’ she captioned the Instagram video.
‘No one else can dictate who you are. No one deserves an explanation. I am evolved enough to know that nothing comes easy and no one is perfect.

‘Everyone will judge you. No matter WHAT you do. And / or what you don’t do. Acceptance comes with accepting yourself first. And the difficult journey it takes sometimes to get there.
‘I celebrate everyone taking the time to put one step in front of the next everyday in order to build the next version of themselves for the better. Allowing yourself grace, patience and respect…’
Right on cue, fans flooded the I Turn To You singer’s comments with praise, suggesting that she should give her haters ‘more to say’.
2000spophits replied: ‘You broke the internet this year.’

Ctrlxkid agreed: ‘Xtina on the tip of everyone’s tongue this year. Let’s give em some more to say [sic].’
Mike.k.mia commented: ‘Haters are gonna hate… you do you and the true fighters will always have your back [sic].’
As 106th added: ‘She said “mind your business, bc while I’m out here living life and thriving, y’all home commenting on my every move [sic].”’
Christina recently opened up about her huge career and stepping into the public eye at such a young age in a candid interview, reflecting on the obsession that many had with her looks when she was just starting out.
She unpacked the comments she received about her figure when she was a teenager (Picture: Getty)
‘When you’re a teenager, you have a very different body than when you’re in your 20s,’ the mom-of-two told Glamour Magazine.
‘I started to fill out, and then that was unacceptable because it was like, “Oh, she’s getting thicker.” Then I had industry people: “They liked your body and how you were as a skinny teenager.”
‘I have a maturity now where I just don’t give a f**k about your opinion. I’m not going to take it on.
‘It must be your responsibility to take up your space. Other people’s opinions of me are not my business.’
