âNot much,â Silverstone said with a laugh when asked if she could share any exclusive details about the project, according to Parade. But despite the secrecy, she shared that the tone and legacy of the original film are guiding the development process.
âIâm really excited about it,â she said. âI think weâre going to try really hard. The goal is to make it honor what everyone loves about âCluelessâ and Cher.â

Hereâs What We Know So Far About the Clueless Peacock Series
First announced nearly six years ago, the “Clueless” follow-up has seen multiple iterations come and go before landing at Peacock. According to early reports, the upcoming series will be more than just a nostalgic retread, blending familiar faces with a new take on the Beverly Hills world that made Cher a cultural icon.
Silverstoneâs confirmed involvement marks the first time she will reprise her role as Cher Horowitz in an official sequel or spinoff. Itâs a major step forward for a franchise thatâs remained beloved for nearly three decades.
The original “Clueless,” released in 1995, was written and directed by Amy Heckerling and loosely based on Jane Austenâs “Emma.” Starring Silverstone, Paul Rudd, Stacey Dash, and the late Brittany Murphy, the film was a sleeper hit that grew into a cultural phenomenon. Its impact spawned a short-lived TV series, merchandising, and countless fashion trends inspired by Cherâs memorable wardrobe.
Now, as Peacock continues development, the creative team is focused on crafting a series that balances fan expectations with contemporary storytelling. Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are attached to write along with Jordan Weiss. All three will executive produce, with Silverstone also executive producing in addition to starring. Amy Heckerling, who wrote and directed the original film, and Robert Lawrence, who produced that film, also serve as executive producers. CBS Studios will produce in association with Universal Television.
No premiere date or supporting cast has been announced yet, but with Silverstoneâs enthusiastic support and development officially underway, it looks like Cher is one step closer to being totally bugginâ once again.
