Most people were already aware of the power of a viral social media moment. Still, a CEO and an HR professional are learning firsthand how quickly a viral video can change lives, and not for the better. Earlier this week, a kiss cam at a Coldplay concert captured a couple who apparently didn’t want to be seen together. An online video of the moment led to plenty of speculation about an affair, and later, the identification of the duo. Here’s everything that went down.

A Kiss Cam at a Coldplay concert captured an awkward moment

An awkward kiss cam moment from Coldplay’s July 16 concert at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA has gone viral. The moment came as Chris Martin performed for the packed stadium. The Jumbotron scanned the crowd, landing on a couple who looked positively thrilled to be together, until they recognized they were on the screen. The silve-haired man ducked away. The woman, who had looked carefree with her her partner’s arms around her waist moments earlier covered her face.

Fans already knew what just happened, but Chris Martin tried to lighten the mood. He paused, mid-song and quipped, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy,” drawing shocked laughs from the crowd. The concert moved forward and the possible affair partners were not shown on the screen again, but it didn’t take long for the moment to absolutely explode.

A video of the moment went viral and led to identification

The awkward moment didn’t stay between the 65,000 people who packed into Gilette Stadium on July 16. A truly awkward moment never stays in one place. A concertgoer shared a video of the moment on TikTok, and it went viral almost instantly.

The internet sleuths did their work and quickly identified the duo. According to <a href=”https://www.vulture.com/article/coldplay-ceo-affair-allegations-video.html?utm_campaign=feed-part&utm_medium=social_acct” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Vulture, TikTok users claim the duo is Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot. If the identification is correct, he is the CEO of the AI-data firm Astronomer. She serves as the company’s Chief People Officer. Another employee appeared to be standing next to the duo. Byron joined the company in 2023. Cabot signed in November 2024. It’s unclear if Byron and Cabot knew each other before she joined Astronomer. Neither has issued a statement nor confirmed their presence at the concert in question.

Fans were quick to weigh in on the couple’s fatal mistake

While Byron and his possibly-mistress have yet to comment on the situation, everyone else is weighing in. Significant changes are also occurring on social media. Byron’s wife has deleted her accounts, while Cabot is busy distancing her professional life from Astronomer.

While the real people involved in this soap opera are making odd moves, social media users are convinced that none of this needed to happen. In fact, they are sure the moment wouldn’t have ever made it to the internet if Byron and Cabot hadn’t violently overcorrected.

Shortly after the video went viral, fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to discuss the situation. Several users pointed out that if the couple hadn’t been so horrified by getting caught on the Jumbotron, the video probably would never have been posted online.

They point out that, while he is recognizable in the tech industry, it is unlikely that anyone at the concert would have known Byron. The entire stadium wouldn’t have given the stolen moment a second thought. They only did because of the couple’s reaction, which prompted Chris Martin’s awkward commentary. Frankly, all the alleged affair partners had to do was act natural and none of this would have happened. Sure, he’d still be cheating, but the entire world wouldn’t know about it.
