Rip Wheeler’s Character Is Likely to Return in a Spinoff

“Yellowstone” fans can take comfort in the fact that, according to Deadline, a spinoff of the show is being planned that will star Wheeler as Rip and Kelly Reilly as Beth Dutton.

According to Deadline, other characters from the “Yellowstone” franchise are also likely to show up in the spinoff, although the publication did not reveal which ones.

However, “Yellowstone,” in its final season, did show multiple characters showing up at a Texas ranch, so it’s likely that will be the location for the spinoff.

The hit show ended with the “Yellowstone” ranch being sold to the nearby Native American tribe, contingent on a promise that it would not be sold for development. This fulfilled a prophecy in the 1883 prequel that the land would be returned to the tribe after multiple generations had passed. This allowed the Dutton family to fulfill their goal of preserving the land. The finale also indicated that Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler were buying a new ranch, which also could be designed to set up the spinoff.

Part of the deal with the tribe saw Kayce Dutton’s character being allowed to retain a portion of the land to base his family on. Kevin Costner’s character was murdered in the final season, so it’s hard to imagine that the actor would be part of any spinoff.
