Greg Davies has been ‘seriously’ warned by his doctor to lose weight.
The 54-year-old actor and stand-up comedian admitted that his size is an easy way to mine on-stage material but has been advised to get into shape by medical professionals.
The comic has explained that a doctor advised him ‘something bad will happen’ if he didn’t address his lifestyle.
‘Although I’ve had rich pickings from turning the gun on myself and my instinct is to try and get laughs wherever possible, it’s not a reason to stay as I am physically,’ he told The Sun.
Davies will return to our screens on Friday as Paul `Wicky’ Wickstead when The Cleaner comes back for a second series.
The BBC One sitcom tells the story of Wicky, a crime scene cleaner who often finds humour in the people he meets through his work, despite the gore.

Davies revealed making the latest series involved a lot of mischief that might reflect ‘badly’ on him like dousing the ex My Family star Zoe Wanamaker with water.
‘I’m sure that it reflects very badly on me on so many levels that chucking a bucket of water in Zoë Wanamaker’s face is right up there. “She really didn’t seem to mind though,’ he said.
The Taskmaster star also expressed his excitement at working with a whole host of other stars such as Asim Chaudhry, John Macmillan, Simon Callow, and Dame Harriet Walter.

‘The cast for this season are brilliant and that there are so many distinguished actors amongst them leads me to believe that The BBC have secrets that they are using as leverage,’ he continued.
‘Me, the writing and production teams are very grateful for this support.’
Davies will also return to the Taskmaster throne when the 15th series of the hit game show returns to our screens.
The new series will premiere on at 9pm on Channel 4 on Thursday, March 30.
A new batch of contestants will attempt to impress Davies during his challenges, including Frankie Boyle, Ivo Graham, Jenny Eclair, Kiell Smith-Bynoe, and Mae Martin.
Series two of The Cleaner comes to BBC One at 9.30pm on Friday, March 23.
The 15th series of Taskmaster starts on Channel 4 at 9pm on Thursday, March 30.
