Adam Sandler’s film Happy Gilmore has finally landed on streaming platforms, with viewers loving the iconic film.
The 1996 sport comedy has made its way onto the free streaming service, ITVX, and is available to watch now, entirely free.
Directed by Dennis Dugan, the film follows a failed ice hockey player who discovers a talent for golf and is trying to win some compeitions to help his grandmother’s finances as she is set to lose her house.
The 90 minute comedy features angry outbursts from Happy – played by Sandler – a focal point for the comedy.
It also stars Julie Bowen, Richard Kiel, Bob Barker, Carl Weathers, and Christopher McDonald.

As with most Adam Sandler films, the reception was very mixed with Rotten Tomatoes giving the film a 65% ranking after a muxed reaction from critics.
Some critics lauded the film, while others totally slated the film.
A Screen Rant review said: ‘Almost 30 years after its original release, Happy Gilmore still holds up as one of Adam Sandler’s better movies of his illustrious 1990s period.’
‘Sandler at his crazy, comical best….side-splitting stuff,’ said Moviehole.
‘Sever those cerebral lobes, sit back, and enjoy a gleeful, energetically stupid comedy,’ said Netflix.
The film was followed up with a second film, Happy Gilmore 2, released in 2025, which broke records with 46,700,000 views during its opening weekend.
The film was the most watched a English language film has even been in the US for its opening weekend, but it’s also the biggest-ever audience an Adam Sandler flick has attracted during its crucial first three days.
This is part of the actors mega deal with the streamer, reportedly worth $250million (£186m) which has been renewed multiple times.
The Wedding Singer star has made multiple original movies for Netflix so far, including Murder Mystery, Hubie Halloween and rare serious film Spaceman.
