Concerned Dodgers Fans Rally Around Alex Vesia & His Wife as They Face a ‘Family Matter’

Los Angeles Dodgers fans have expressed concern about the update that baseball star and relief pitcher Alex Vesia will miss the World Series. Their support comes after the Dodgers stated that Vesia was dealing with a “deeply personal family matter.”

Dodgers Release a Statement About Alex Vesia

“It’s with a heavy heart that we share that Alex Vesia is away from the team as he and his wife, Kayla, navigate a deeply personal family matter. The entire Dodger organization is sending our thoughts to the Vesia family, and we will provide an update at a later date,” the Dodgers shared in a statement on X on Friday, October 24. 

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has also discussed Vesia and why they were unable to include him in the World Series, which began on Friday, October 24. “I think we exhausted a couple different options, but just considering, obviously, what he’s going through, baseball’s certainly on the back burner,” Roberts stated, Sports Illustrated reports. “So I just think that’s kind of the right process, I think that we as an organization was probably the best way to handle it. To be quite honest, I don’t know a lot of what went into it.”

Roberts continued, “We have a lot of viable options (to replace him) and I don’t know what situation will present itself, but I trust all the guys, I really do. And guys are gonna have to step up, but Alex is certainly gonna be missed.” 

Fans Show Support for Alex Vesia

Fans were expecting Vesia to be included in the World Series. His last Instagram post on October 18 showed him in good form and suggested that Vesia was prepared and looking forward to participating. “Up Next… World Series,” he wrote in the caption. 

Fans have flooded the post with messages of support and concern. “Prayers to you and your family, brother,”  a fan wrote. “You and your family are in my prayers!!!” another shared. 

The support is even coming from fans of opposing teams. A third comment comes from a Blue Jays fan. “As a jays fan, I just want to say that all of Canada is wishing your family safety and health. Please take care of one another and remember to take care of your own mental health as you support your family through this!” a comment reads. “The Blue Jays fans are praying for you guys!”

Other reactions include, “Man, It’s a huge loss that we don’t get you in the WS. I hope you and your family are okay,” and “We got you bro. Go handle #1 – we’ll be waiting for you .”

There has been no update on Vesia’s situation at this time.
