He’s taken on the East End and the scandalous goings-on at Rutshire, but could Danny Dyer become the second person in his family to sashay onto the Strictly Come Dancing dancefloor?

His daughter Dani, 29, who’s readying herself to compete in the 2025 competition series, has dropped a major hint that he could.

Speaking to Metro and other press ahead of the show’s launch this weekend, the former Love Islander said her dad ‘loves’ the show and is already incredibly excited to see her compete.

‘He’s come before to support Rose [Ayling-Ellis] when she was doing it and it was emotional then,’ Dani said. ‘He’s like, “I’ve gotta keep it together when I’m watching”.’

She then intriguingly added: ‘He loves to dance himself really. I need to get him up dancing.’

However, it’s worth noting that the 48-year-old actor has previously admitted he’s been asked to appear on the BBC show, but said he would never do it.

In true Danny fashion, he told The Sun: ‘I get offered to do Strictly every year, and it’s not for me. I’ve got no desire to be mincing around in sequins.’

But that was before his daughter Dani decided to give it a go, so you never know if he might be swayed.

Elsewhere in our interview with Dani, the mother-of-three said she’s looking forward to the opportunity to lean into her sexier side on the Strictly dancefloor.

‘I can’t wait to feel a bit sexy. I’ve been a mum for like, my oldest is four now,’ she said. ‘I’m like, am I sexy? When I was on Love Island, I never wore the thong bikinis. I’m like, “Dan, why didn’t I do that?”’

Dani welcomed her son Santiago with her former partner Sammy Kimmence in 2021. Then she welcomed twin daughters Summer and Star two years later with her now-husband Jarrod Bowen in 2023.

Dani previously revealed that Bowen’s mother voted for her and her ex Jack Fincham to win Love Island back when they were on it in 2018.

She did indeed take home (half of) ITV’s £50k cash prize and has now said Strictly is the biggest show she has done since then.

‘That was seven years ago,’ she said. ‘So this, for me, is massive. I’m just gonna try and pretend it’s not live.’

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One and iPlayer from September 20.
