Cynthia Nixon Reacts to Surprise Cancellation of ‘And Just Like That…’

“And Just Like That…” is officially coming to a close.

It’s a sad day for OG “Sex and the City” fans: the cosmopolitans have officially stopped flowing. After 27 years of unforgettable fashion, friendship, and reinvention, the beloved characters of Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes, and Charlotte York are preparing to hang up their Manolos for good!

Through it all, Miranda’s evolution has been one of the most complex and celebrated arcs in the franchise: from tough New York lawyer to devoted mother, from forgiving Steve’s infidelity to ending their marriage and embracing her sexual identity with new love and purpose.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Nixon shared her feelings about saying goodbye to the character — and the cast and crew who’ve become like family.

“I can’t believe our wild beautiful And Just Like That ride is almost over. It has been such a delight from start to finish. I will miss working with these people everyday SO incredibly much but know we will always be a part of each other’s lives.”

While Nixon prepares to close the chapter on Miranda, she leaves fans with a promise of more to come — both on-screen and in her feed:

Following the announcement, Kristin Davis, who has portrayed Charlotte York Goldenblatt since 1998. Davis shared a heartfelt tribute to fans, cast, and crew.

“I am profoundly sad. I love our whole beautiful cast and crew. 400 artisans working so hard on our show with deep love.”

She also offered a touching thank-you to the fans who have supported the show for over two decades: “And to our loyal fans, we love you forever and ever. ❤️ Thank you to you all!!!
You hold me up and I do not take it for granted!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️”

Davis’s farewell marks the end of a 26-year journey with Charlotte.


A Final Thank You From the Showrunner

Michael Patrick King expressed his deep appreciation to the loyal viewers who have followed the story from the original “Sex and the City” through to the reboot. He confirmed that the show had reached its natural ending.

“And Just Like That… the ongoing storytelling of the Sex and the City universe is coming to an end,” he wrote.

“While I was writing the last episode of And Just Like That… Season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop. Along with Sarah Jessica Parker, Casey Bloys and Sarah Aubrey, we decided to end the popular series this year with a two-part finale and extended the original series order from 10 episodes to 12.”
