Dancing on Ice judges Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean have left fans wondering when they are actually set to stop performing.

The pair, who rose to fame when winning gold at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, were also British, European and World champions in their sport.

Although they retired from competitive skating in 1994, they continued to perform on tours for another four years before announcing their official retirement in 1998.

Since 2006 Torvill and Dean, now aged 66 and 65, have been involved with the ITV series Dancing on Ice, first as coaches before becoming Head Judges in 2018.

However, they revealed last year that 2025 would mark their final time skating together after wrapping up their tour, which runs across April and May.

Despite announcing their plans, which coincide with the 40th anniversary of their legendary Olympics performance, many fans are still uncertain.

‘I swear they’ve said they’re not going to skate together anymore for like the last 5 years,’ Atholl posted on X after Dancing on Ice returned to screens on Sunday night

‘I was thinking that. At first, I thought I was going mad but yes they said they will no longer skate. Lmaoo,’ John commented.

‘Every chuffing year we hear Torvill and Dean say “This is the final time that we’ll dance on ice” They’ll be 90 years old and we’ll hear them say “This is the final time that we’ll dance on ice!,’ Carole added.

However, many others declared it was still ‘impressive’ they were continuing to tour and take on such a physically demanding schedule.

During the premiere episode of the ITV show, Dean spoke about their impending retirement.

‘We’re 50 years skating together. It’s our last tour, last time round, so when we’ve finished the tour, our skates will be hung up,’ he said.

However, he reassured many they were ‘not retiring’ from Dancing on Ice.

When announcing their plans, Dean shared that their bodies ‘won’t allow us to keep doing it too much’.

‘We felt there was one tour left in us where we can go out and be nostalgic,’ he told The Sun.

Meanwhile his professional partner added: ‘We’re lucky we can still perform to a level we’re happy with, considering our age and how many years we’ve put our bodies through training.’

Their 28-date Our Last Dance tour begins in April and will include shows in London, Glasgow, and Birmingham.

Dancing on Ice continues Sunday at 6.30pm on ITV1.
