Dancing On Ice star Brendyn Hatfield has revealed that he’s undergoing surgery after facing a secret health struggle for over a year.
The American skater has been on the hit ITV show since 2019 and opened up to fans in an emotional Instagram post.
Brendyn – who is in a relationship with S Club 7 singer Rachel Stevens – said that he has been left waiting in pain after NHS delays and a clerical error, which is why he is opting to pay for surgery now.
He began his video in a light-hearted manner, saying ‘Oh hi there, didn’t see ya’.
He continued: ‘Yeah had a minute, and thought I’d update everyone on life. It’s a big day tomorrow. Going in for a little bit of surgery.
‘Everybody close to me knows whats going on. But yeah, for the last year and a half I’ve really had a hard time with asthmatic symptoms but I’ve never had it before in my life, like breathing.’

‘The professional ice skater explained that he’s been to A&E a couple of times ‘with massive asthma attacks’, something that he’s ‘never dealt within his whole life’.
The 39-year-old said he was deeply frustrated with the NHS after being discharged by mistake in October.
He outlined in the video that he now has to foot a huge bill in order to cover the surgery privately.
He shared: ‘Through testing and everything they’ve found a bunch of things going on with my sinuses.
‘So it’s not a massive surgery but the bill sure is. Because the NHS could not fit me in for another year. And I can’t live like this anymore.
‘I will keep updated and let everyone know that I am ok.’

He added: ‘Basically, due to a clerical error I got discharged from the NHS in October and they weren’t able to see me until December this year and it has been nothing but frustrating.
‘I’m excited to get it done but it’s not an easy one to swallow with changing everything. But everything works out in the end and you just keep… (going) you know?’
More to come.
