Daniel Craig had a ‘bone to pick’ with US TV host Stephen Colbert who has failed to correctly pronounce his name for years.
The James Bond actor, 56, said that on the six times he had been interviewed on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert the presenter had said Cr-egg instead Cr-aig.
Daniel schooled him with a mischevious glint in his eye: ‘It’s a diphthong. I don’t say Col-bet.’
A diphthong is a sound formed by the combination of two vowels in a single syllable, in which the sound begins in one vowel and moves towards the other.
The Knives Out star then repeatedly said Cr-egg and Cr-aig to help Stephen differentiate between the two.
As the audience laughed, Stephen said: ‘There is a subtle difference and I apologise.’

The 60-year-old joked: ‘I don’t want Daniel Craig mad at me.’
The Layer Cake actor then erupted into fits of giggles as Stephen told him: ‘You can call me Col-bet if you want.’
Winding him up further, Stephen said: ‘I used to be Col-bet when I was younger.’
Intrigued, Daniel probed: ‘And what made you change it? Showbiz?’
Stephen responded: ‘Yeah, showbiz. There already was a Stephen Col-bet so I had to change it to Stephen Col-ber.’

Daniel said while chuckling: ‘Really?’
Stephen quipped: ‘No I’m lying.’
Both Daniel and Stephen then burst into laughter, with viewers on YouTube shipping their jokey friendship.
Among them was @theoloutlaw, who raved: ‘Ahhhh This is what makes a great TV ….Real adlib and very entertaining!’
Echoing their sentiment, @aaspid09 commented: ‘Daniel on colberts show is just pure and unguarded joy.’

@thecomicdirector8417 enthused: ‘One of the best and funniest interviews ive seen.’
@jperez75432 added: ‘Love Daniel Craig! He and Stephen always have a fun time together.’
Stephen also addressed Daniel’s ‘quirky fashion glow-up’, including his new long hair style as he embraces his silver fox era.
Daniel’s sublime mid-life evolution from James Bond to ‘rebellious’ fashion god has gripped fans since he appeared at London Fashion Week with his wife Rachel Weisz earlier this year.
Fans said it looked like the duo had raided a jazzy vintage shop together, and looked undoubtably cool in this retro style.
Stylists also praised the 007 actor’s new style and dubbed him the king of the ‘midlife makeover’.
