Daniel Craig has revealed that he came out with a filthy joke after becoming starstruck when meeting a Hollywood legend.
The 56-year-old has become a staple of our screens thank to iconic roles as 007 in the James Bond franchise, and Benoit Blanc in the Knives Out series.
In a new interview to celebrate his stint in Luca Guadagnino’s Queer, he opened up about rubbing shoulders with his fellow A-listers, and explained that his introduction to Steven Spielberg was unforgettable for the most bizarre reason.
‘Anybody who’s slightly famous, I get starstruck and lose the ability to speak, or go verbless,’ he told W Magazine. ‘Meeting Steven Spielberg for the first time was quite something.
‘I told him a really, really, really dirty joke. He had already cast me in Munich, so it was fine.’
Although Daniel didn’t shed light on exactly what his dirty quip was, we have never been more desperate to know a piece of information.

The actor has lit up the screen in countless projects over the years, including The Invasion, Layer Cake, the Jacket, Defiance, the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and, of course, the James Bond movies.
He starred as the superspy in five films, before officially bowing out at the end of 2021’s No Time To Die.
Lifting the lid on his career, Daniel confessed: ‘I’m terrible at auditioning. Sam Mendes just laughs when he thinks about the audition I did for Road to Perdition. He went, “Stop! You’ve got the job!” I was so bad, he had to give me the part.
‘But now I love the process. It’s a way of seeing if you can be in the same room as each other for a prolonged period of time, whether they’re assholes or you’re an asshole – whichever.’

When asked whether he had ever lied about a skill to secure a role, he added: ‘F**king hell! Just about everything! I still do – I always say, “Yeah, I can do that.” Fake it until you make it.’
The dad-of-two recently shed light on those early days of his career, suggesting that he overworked himself because he didn’t want to turn any possible job down.
‘Most actors are out of work for large chunks so you take your job offers – but they left me empty,’ he told The Times. ‘Then, bottom line, I got paid.’
‘I was so exhausted at the end of a Bond it would take me six months to recover emotionally,’ he added of his 007 efforts.

‘I always had the attitude that life must come first and, when work came first for a while, it strung me out.’
Daniel also unpacked his reaction when discussing who will replace him as James Bond, after previously vowing that he does not care.
‘But of course I care!,’ he added. ‘I keep saying I don’t, because people ask me all the time and I’m an ornery, grumpy old man, so I say I don’t give a s**t. But I care about it deeply – deeply.
‘I care what the franchise does, because I love Barbara [Broccoli] and Michael [G Wilson, the producers]. But it’s not my decision or problem. I wish them luck.’
