Produced by senior executive producer Liz Cole and executive producer Paul Ryan, the season will also be anchored by Lester Holt and features correspondents Blayne Alexander, Andrea Canning, Josh Mankiewicz, Keith Morrison, and Dennis Murphy, NBC Universal News Group reports. 

To generate excitement and awareness for the upcoming season, a teaser was shared on Facebook on September 23. The caption reads, “Who has their 34th season premiere this week AND is hitting their milestone 3,000th episode? We do AND we are! It all starts Friday at 9/8c on Dateline. We hope you’ll join us.” 

The premiere episode is titled “The Phantom” and will focus on the killing of Colorado mother Kristil Krug, NBC Universal News Group reports. The correspondent on the episode is Josh Mankiewicz. 

In another video posted on Instagram on September 24, Holt addresses the camera, informing fans that the Season 34 premiere will be the 3,000th episode and that they are returning to “all new two-hour mysteries.”

Fans of the show have reacted in the comment section of the Instagram post, sharing their excitement about the series’ return and how they plan to tune in. “I’m so ready, and you know I’ll be watching ALONE,” a comment reads. “Ohhhhh…believe all of us….we are so ready & excited,” another person shared.
