David Beckham will reportedly finally be awarded a knighthood after years of being snubbed.
The football legend, 50, is reportedly set to be included in the King’s Birthday Honours List after long-standing speculation that his lack of a ‘Sir’ has been a sore spot.
The former Manchester United and England star, who recently celebrated his milestone 50th birthday, will be confirmed as a ‘Sir’ when the list is released next week, according to The Sun.
The publication has reported that his wife and former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham will be known as Lady Beckham.
Beckham is understood to have long wanted the title, but has gone years absent from the Honour’s Lists.
He appeared to come close to the honour in 2022, when he very publicly spent 13 hours in the queue to pay his respects to the late Queen Elizabeth, who was lying in state in Westminster. But his chances then seemed scuppered by his highly controversial involvement in the Qatar World Cup.

David was awarded an OBE in 2003 for his contributions to football.
Despite being England’s best known footballer, Beckham has had a turbulent relationship with the royals over the years that has always kept a knighthood out of reach and prompted much discourse over whether or not he deserved one.
In 2013, Beckham was involved in the Ingenious tax avoidance scheme which, according to the Sun, prevented the honour.
After recovering from this scandal, in 2017, his emails were leaked in which he allegedly complained about being overlooked and reportedly even called the Honours committee something rude.
But Beckham has been rubbing shoulders with the royals in recent years and his hard work has now paid off.
He was recently seen all smiles with King Charles while attending a preview of the Chelsea Flower Show, where he waited in line to greet the monarch – he just loves waiting in lines.

The news has come at a good time for the Beckham household, amid a spate of media coverage surrounding a rumoured feud in the family.
The rumours began earlier this year, when Nicola Peltz Beckham, 30, and Brooklyn Beckham, 26, were noticeably absent from David Beckham’s lavish 50th birthday celebrations, where the rest of the family partied into the early hours with a host of A-list guests.
The family have largely kept quiet on whispers of an ongoing rift, despite plenty of apparent drama and cryptic social media posts.
