David Bromstad Reveals He Wants to Find a Husband, Thrilling HGTV Fans

Longtime HGTV star David Bromstad is beloved for his warm and colorful, boisterous personality on “My Lottery Dream Home,” which launched its 17th season in December 2024 and consistently ranks as one of the network’s most-watched shows.

But the loud and proud designer tends to keep his private life very quiet, especially after making headlines for an acrimonious breakup years ago. So fans were thrilled when HGTV posted a brief social media video of Bromstad on January 3, 2025, in which the first-ever “Design Star” winner admitted he may be ready to settle down in the new year.

“I need a husband,” Bromstad jokingly whines in the video, before quickly clarifying, “Actually, I don’t need a husband, I simply just want one.”

Bromstad then quips, “Someone who has a private jet would be ideal.”

Fans Flood Post With Encouraging Words for David Bromstad, Hoping He’ll Find Lasting Love

HGTV captioned the video, “New Year, new husband,” and fans flooded the post to share how much they hope Bromstad finds his true love in 2025.

One fan wrote, “Awesome! He’d better be perfect 😊” and another told Bromstad, “this is your year😘”

Another commented, “Love you and hope you find the love of your life this year ❤️🙌😍💝”

“David I hope you find the happiness you so deserve,” someone else shared. “Keep being big hearted, lovable you. ❤️”

“I hope you get the one you want and that he’s a keeper,” another fan wrote. “Somebody to make you laugh and have fun with and challenge you. ❤️”

Many fans commented that they, too, are hoping to put a ring on it in the new year, including one woman who wrote, “Me too hunny! I will look for one for you if you look out for me! 🔥”

David Bromstad Faced Nasty Breakup & Lawsuit in 2015

HGTV didn’t tag Bromstad in its post, so it’s not clear if he’s seen the supportive responses to his relationship goal. It’s not the first time the former “Color Splash” host has mentioned his desire to settle down with someone special.

In 2019, the Minnesota native told the Minnesota Star Tribune, “I would love to have kids myself, but I need a boyfriend first. Being single has served its purpose. I’m ready to settle down and have that regular life — or as regular as my life can be.”

Bromstad has stayed mostly quiet about any attempts at finding love since his long-term relationship with Jeffrey Glasko ended badly nearly a decade ago, according to InTouch Weekly.

Bromstad and Glasko were together from 2004 through 2015, the outlet reported. But after their split, Glasko filed a shocking civil lawsuit against Bromstad, claiming he’d breached a “nuptial-like cohabitation contract” they’d agreed to verbally, including sharing their Florida condo, InTouch Weekly said.

A circuit court judge in the Miami-Date County said some of Glasko’s allegations against Bromstad were among the most “scandalous I’ve ever reviewed,” the outlet reported, and he struck them from the suit. Glasko filed again in December 2015, but the judge threw that lawsuit out, too.

Bromstad’s lawyer, William V. Roppolo, told InTouch Weekly at the time, “These salacious claims were made by a desperate person. The allegations are part of a lawsuit that has been dismissed in Mr. Bromstad’s favor with sanctions levied against (Glasko).”

After Years of Healing & Renovating, David Bromstad Has the Perfect Place to Live With Future Husband

Amid all the drama of that year, “My Lottery Dream Home” also debuted, but it took some time to find its footing while Bromstad took his time healing. When he turned 50 in August 2023, he shared on Instagram that he was in Norway, climbing the famous 2,000-step Reinebringen uphill hike, and how meaningful the trek was to him.

He wrote, “This wasn’t just a climb for me, this was something so much more. I’ve been thru a lot the last few years, which I will share when I’m ready, and this was incredibly symbolic for me.”

“Letting go of passed mistakes and regrets,” Bromstad continued. “Letting theses moments pass thru me has given me a intense clarity Building foundations! Feels good to be present, sober and living the life I was intended to live.”

If Bromstad does find his future hubby in 2025, he has the perfect place for them to spend their life together. Bromstad moved to Orlando in 2016 and purchased a five-bedroom Tudor there in 2021, according to Velvet Ropes. He conducted extensive renovations on his dream home in 2024, including a complete overhaul to the primary bedroom and placing stone on the interior and exterior walls of the home.
