Superhero movie fans have much to be excited about in 2025, and the upcoming “Superman” film is one of them. Starring David Corenswet, the film hits theatres on July 11th and marks the first “Superman” film since 2016.Â
Recently, David Corenswet opened up about not only being picked to wear the iconic red and blue suit but also learning that he would be a father simultaneously. Now, in 2025, the “Superman” movie is mere weeks away from releasing in theaters around the world, and he’s balancing fatherhood with being a movie star.Â
David Corenswet Prepared For Two Milestones at Once
David Corenswet spoke to PEOPLE and revealed that he learned he was going to be a father days after being picked to test for James Gunn‘s “Superman.” Notably, this was in 2023. He told the outlet, “She told me that she was pregnant two days after I found out I was going to screen test for Superman.”
David continued, “For the first several months of her pregnancy, as is sort of protocol, we werenât telling anybody. We had these two quite huge secrets that we just had between the two of us. And that was intense. For a period, we had just each other for these two huge things.”
Naturally, there was a while before Corenswet began filming “Superman.” However, his wife’s due date was pretty close to the start of filming. According to David, “It was very close. It wasn’t direct, but it was still very close. But it was just having to do two big unknown things at the same time. And they were both great things.”
When discussing his wife’s pregnancy, David also revealed a bit of the lighter side of what they had in common. He said, “She gained about 40 pounds while she was pregnant, and in the same period, I gained about 40 pounds, gaining weight for Superman.”Â
David continued, “I started snoring and had to use her pregnancy pillow.”
The “Superman” Star Became a Father In Early 2024
According to Yahoo Entertainment, David Corensweat has been married to Julia Warner for a little over two years now. The two welcomed their first child, a daughter, into the world in early 2024. However, the couple has made the wise decision of keeping their daughter’s name private.Â
About fatherhood, he said, “I feel like Iâve been a dad for a long time, and just waiting for a kid to prove it. My dad was an enthusiastic father and stayed home with my sister for a period when she was very little, and was very good with kids.”Â
The “Superman” star added, “And so I think I just inherited that. I liked being a camp counselor, and I have terrible jokes that nobody laughs at.”
