Actor Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, tragically passed away on Dec. 14, with reports coming out that their son, Nick, was involved in their death. So because of that, a musician by the name of Nick Reiner was forced to release a statement after people started mistaking him for the late couple’s son.
“PLEASE READ: Iâm not related to Rob and Michele Reiner. Itâs absolutely tragic what has happened to them and my heart goes out to their loved ones and friends,â the musician shared on YouTube, with Parade reporting that he also deleted his Instagram profile.
Rob Reinerâs Family Releases Statement
The family of Rob Reiner has released a statement following news that Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer, had tragically died. The actor was 78, while Michele was 68.
âIt is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time,â his family said in a statement, via Variety.
The outlet further adds that their deaths are being âinvestigated as a homicide,” with PEOPLE reporting that Police have said Nick is “alive and being questioned,” adding that no arrests have been made yet.
Who Is Rob Reiner’s Son, Nick?
Nick Reiner was born in 1993, having dealt with substance abuse struggles while growing up. They began when he was in his teens, and he opened up about how he was in an out of rehab while also dealing with homelessness. Because of that, he co-wrote the semi-autobiographical 2016 film âBeing Charlie alongside his father, which was based on his experiences with addiction.
“It was very personal,” Reiner told TODAY during a 2016 appearance. “What I didn’t understand is the depth of what [Nick] was going through.”
“The process of making this film not only forced me to see what he was experiencing, but I think it forced him to see what I went through and what his mother went through,” he added. “Hopefully the film is a reflection of that.”
Nick is one of Rob’s four children. The actor has three children – Jake, Nick, and Romy – with his wife, Michele, whom he married in 1989 after meeting on the set of “When Harry Met Sally.” Rob also had a daughter, Tracy, whom he adopted during his first marriage to actress and director Penny Marshall, who died in 2018.
