After Oscar-winning actress Diane Keaton sadly passed away on October 11, 2025, comical videos featuring the “Annie Hall” star have resurfaced, including a segment from “The Ellen Show” where she dished on her love of Canadian pop-star Justin Bieber. Watch the 2015 video below.
Diane Keaton on ‘The Ellen Show‘
In 2015, Keaton appeared on Ellen DeGeneres’s talk show to promote her wine, “The Keaton.” The host asked if Keaton was excited about “Bieber Week,” to which the “Book Club” actress responded, “Oh yeah. I like that boy.” DeGeneres then reminded Keaton that Bieber, at age 21, was actually a man now before putting a shirtless picture of the Canadian singer on the screen behind them.
Keaton screamed in delight when she finally noticed the picture, admitting she hadn’t seen that specific photograph before, adding, “That is gorgeous! Wow, I mean, okay. Now we’re talking.”
Keaton then began to ask DeGeneres, “Do you think he’d go on a daâ” but was cut off by the audience cheering for a new picture of Bieber on the screen behind the two women. Presumably, she was wondering if Bieber would go on a date with her.
DeGeneres surprised Keaton with a turtleneck featuring Bieber’s face and the words, “I’m a Belieber” in all caps, as well as an “I heart Bieber” t-shirt.
Revisiting Keaton’s earlier, cut-off question, DeGeneres asked if Keaton had ever dated anyone as young as Bieber, and if she considered herself to be a cougar, or a woman who dates younger men. Keaton replied, “Well I’d like to but, you know, I haven’t had the opportunity.”
The most hilarious moment in the segment came right after, when Keaton stopped mid-sentence due to the audience gasping. “Uh-oh, did you see somethingâ” she started to ask the gaspers before realizing what they had seen: Bieber himself was running onto the stage to greet her.
Keaton comically screamed, yelling, “Oh no! Oh no!” as Bieber went in for a hug. Her shock and amusement was genuine and evident, and finally, she hugged the “Love Yourself” singer back. The two shook hands, Keaton said it was nice to meet him, and Bieber exited the stage. “That’s real beauty,” Keaton mused to the audience.
DeGeneres claimed she and the show’s producers hadn’t asked Bieber to make that surprise appearance, which could explain why the moment was so short. Keaton then asked the most important question of all: “Do you think he’ll ask me out later?”

Keaton also dated her “Godfather” co-star Al Pacino, although they didn’t start dating until filming the trilogy’s second movie. She was also in a relationship with Warren Beatty while the two were making “Reds” together.
