Despite the possible slip, Hough emphasized that he and Erbert still plan to keep their baby’s gender private. During his September 3 appearance on “Live with Kelly and Mark,” the 39-year-old dancer explained why the couple wants to hold on to a little mystery.

“Yeah, you know, there’s not a lot of surprises in life, right?” Hough told People. “We’re going to keep that one to ourselves. So yeah, it’s going to be exciting. Can’t wait.”

He admitted that while Erbert was eager to learn the gender for practical reasons, they both agreed to keep it between them. “She’s like, ‘That closet is ready to go, the clothes are ready,’” he said with a laugh. “She wants to know what’s going on.”

The Couple’s Sweet Journey to Parenthood

Hough and Erbert, who tied the knot in 2023, announced they were expecting their first child in July. The joyful news came just months after Hough shared a heartfelt birthday tribute to fellow dancer Val Chmerkovskiy, writing, “Thank you for being an example of a great father for when that day comes.”
