Did Janelle Brown Spot David Woolley’s Red Flag in the ‘Sister Wives’ Premiere?

Sister Wives star Christine Brown is clearly happy with her new life. After leaving Kody Brown and moving to Utah, she met and married David Woolley in short order; Sister Wives cameras were there to capture it all. While Christine’s biggest supporters are happy for the mother of six, not everyone is convinced her marriage is as perfect as she claims. Some viewers have questioned Woolley’s intentions since his introduction on Sister Wives. After the season 20 premiere of the beloved reality TV series, it seems like Janelle Brown is suspicious of the pairing, too. A comment she made perfectly articulated David Woolley’s biggest red flag without her even knowing it.

Janelle pointed out that David was charming with an ego

Janelle Brown spent more than 20 years in a polygamist marriage with Christine Brown. She knows the mother of six better than most people, and despite the former sister wives not getting along in the beginning, Janelle seems to have Christine’s best interest at heart, even if they aren’t as bonded as they claim. She has been pretty enthusiastic about seeing Christine moving on with her life, too. That’s why a recent comment Janelle made about David Woolley during the Sister Wives premiere caught viewers off guard. It feels like Janelle might have pinpointed his red flag.

During an outing together, Janelle remarked that David Woolley was charming but had an ego. The one-off remark got fans thinking. It was clear, based on the way she said it, that Janelle might not think David is the prize Christine does. At the very least, she seems wary of him, and it might be because he reminds everyone a little too much of Kody. Some fans are absolutely smitten with David. Still, those opposed are vehemently opposed, and it’s because of his similarities to the Sister Wives villain.

The former sister wives have all discussed Kody’s ego in the past

While one might not think anything of the comment, it is rare for someone to discuss someone’s ego in a positive light. Suggesting a person has a “bit of an ego” is far from a compliment. Reddit users were largely bothered by the statement as well. They weren’t irritated because they disagreed. Many viewers have clocked cracks in David’s facade. They simply noted that the wording Janelle used sounded familiar.

Several longtime viewers chimed in to discuss how Kody was described in much the same way, and they are correct. Several times over the years, Kody’s ego has been a topic of discussion. All three of his wives have described him as egotistical and self-serving at different points. In more recent years, he, himself, has discussed how his ego led him to polygamy. Sure, it has been used derogatorily or negatively in more recent years. Still, in the past, all four of Kody’s wives have spoken of his charismatic nature and slightly inflated ego with fondness.

Is it possible that Janelle senses that things could go awry very quickly? Perhaps she seems more than we do, given Christne’s nature and what she sees in David? Maybe. Viewers will get to see more of David’s interactions with Christine as the season progresses and will be able to make a decision for themselves. For now, things seem to be going ok, but that is subject to change.
