Sean “Diddy” Combs hoped to leave the Metropolitan Detention Center ahead of his sentencing on Oct. 3, 2025. However, the judge ordered that the mogul stay behind bars. As for his sentencing, prosecutors are seeking a sentence of approximately 51 to 63 months (roughly four to five years). Meanwhile, the defense argues for a much lower term offset by time already served in custody. In a bid to reduce or overturn his sentence, Combs’ legal team has floated multiple strategies, including presenting a redemption plan focused on anti-domestic violence advocacy and appealing the verdict.

Combs’ lead attorney, Marc Agnifilo, spoke to CBS News’ Jericka Duncan about how Combs has reflected on his life post-trial.

“He wants people to know that he has reflected on the blessings that he’s been given on the imperfections that I think he sees in himself, just like we all have,” Agnifilo explained. “I think he wants to be a better, more present father than he’s ever been. I think he wants to start small; I think he wants to get out of jail [and] reestablish a loving, present relationship with all of his seven children. He wants to take care of his mother — his mother, she’s going to get mad at me, but she’s getting older. … But he wants to get back in his life.”

As for music and business, Agnifilo said the mogul will likely “always strive to do something exceptional.” But those are not immediate goals. For now, Combs hopes to reconnect with family.
