Disney has released the first trailer for its “Tron: Ares” movie.
According to Variety, the movie stars Jared Leto and Jeff Bridges, and it is the third film in the âTronâ series, which started in 1982 and continued with the 2010 sequel, âTron: Legacy.â
That’s a 15-year gap between the second and the third films.
The trailer racked up more than 4 million views on YouTube in only four hours.
Fans wrote on Disney’s trailer comment thread that they are excited about the sequel. “The 2010 film is criminally underrated, with visual effects, music, and cinematography. I think many people were waiting for the sequel,” wrote one fan.
“Tron Legacy held a big place in my heart as a kid. Do not mess this up Disney,” another person wrote.
The Disney ‘Tron: Ares’ Trailer Starts With a Scene of a Motorcycle Speeding Through the Streets
The opening scene in the trailer starts with a motorcycle speeding through the streets.
“Reports of a motorcyclist exceeding speeds of 120 miles per hour,” a police dispatcher’s voice says on screen. “Last seen heading northbound.”
A police unit then responds. “Unit 12 acknowledging dispatch,” the officer responds. “Already in pursuit.”
The motorcyclist unleashes a laser that splits the squad car in two as another motorcycle races alongside. “I’m looking for something. Something I do not understand,” the narrator says.
The ‘Tron: Ares’ Trailer Says the Movie Will Be Released in October 2025

The trailer also reveals that the film’s release date is on October 10, 2025. “Worlds will collide,” the trailer says, showing clusters of people staring concerned at the sky.
According to Variety, Bridges was the original film’s star. In the third movie, Leto “plays Ares, one of the programs from the digital universe who is tasked to enter the real world,” Variety reported.
The premise of the movie and trailer is “the clash of our reality with the video game world of Tron,” explains Variety.
Leto is shown toward the end of the trailer, but Bridges does not make a physical appearance, although his voice is heard.
âReady? Cause thereâs no going back,” Bridges’ character Kevin Flynn says toward the end of the trailer.
âItâs really unbelievable to think we made the original in 1982,â Bridges said on stage at a 2024 Expo, according to Variety. âItâs amazing â we never thought we would have this legacy thatâs continued on all these years.â
