One of the most iconic cult classic thrillers from the 90s is the latest movie to get the remake treatment, and fans are seriously divided.
The Hand That Rocks The Cradle first hit the big screen in 1992, introducing us to Rebecca De Mornay’s unhinged character, Peyton, whose doctor husband took his own life after getting caught sexually assaulting pregnant patient Claire (Annabella Sciorra).
She tragically lost her own baby and vowed to get revenge by becoming their nanny, attempting to usurp Claire’s place in the family.
Ghostbusters’ Ernie Hudson, Julianne Moore, Matt McCoy and Madeline Zima were also in the cast.
Deadline reports that the flick is being rebooted for a new audience, with Watcher actress Maika Monroe in the cast and Michelle Garza Cervera serving as director.
Fresh from her stint in Longlegs, Maika is set to take on the role of the creepy childminder while Mary Elizabeth Winstead has reportedly been tapped to play the matriarch.

Meanwhile, others rushed to share their excitement over the thriller getting a more modern take.

The Hand That Rocks The Cradle may have been released more than three decades ago but it still resonates with audiences today.
Rebecca delighted fans as widow Peyton, who was desperate to get revenge on the woman who came forward against her late husband’s sexual assault.
She was hired as their nanny and plotted to take Claire’s place in the family by gaining her daughter’s trust and flirting with her husband.
