Dylan Efron was a true hero during a trip in Florida.
In an episode of âBrooke and Connor Make a Podcast,â “The Traitors” winner said that while visiting South Beach in Miami, he saved two women from drowning.
âI just walk up the shore for the first time ever, and Iâm looking out, and thereâs people screaming in the water,â Efron said via Page Six. âI just saw five girls, like, their hands were up, screaming. Thereâs people on the shore with their hands up.”
âSo I just looked around, and thereâs no lifeguards around. ⦠Me and Brennon just look at each other, and we just sprinted out there,â Efron added, mentioning his friend who was on vacation with him.
Efron continued, saying that two of the women were closer to the shore and âalready had a guy helping them in,” but the other three were âout further.â
âSo I swam one in, swam back for another girl,” Efron said.
“The last girl I swam in, I was just trying to calm her down. Just saying, âBreathe. Breathe.â And sheâs just wrapped me in the biggest hug, like, doesnât wanna let go. So we hugged for like a full minute, just hugging this girl on the shore. Iâm like, âYouâre safe. Youâre good,â he continued.
He went on to describe the moment as ârandomâ and âreally real,â saying, “I feel like I did what most people would have done in that situation.”
Dylan Efron Has Competed in Triathlons
For Efron, he didn’t think twice about jumping in the water to help save the women, and much of that was due to his familiarity with swimming
“I was always fast as a runner, and I always wanted to do triathlons. I figured I’d be good at it because I was good at running. So, I ended up teaching myself how to swim just by watching YouTube videosâand that’s before YouTube was what it is now, there was not as much to choose from. I got pretty good at triathlon,” Efron told GQ in February 2025. “Thatâs my best sport.
He continued to work at it, and soon enough, he was unstoppable in the water.
“I stuck with it all the way through probably [age] 28, and I was ranked in the top 1 percent of my age group for Ironmans,” he explained. “So, I got good at swimming.”
Dylan Efron Won His First Ever Triathlon
For Efron, from the first moment he knew he wanted to complete a triathlon, it wasn’t just about finishing it.
It was about winning.
“I think the competitive side of me wanted to join a triathlon, but I didn’t want to join and lose. I wanted to actually be good enough to win my first one. But honestly, the thing that was most appealing is, look, I’m 6’1″ 180 pounds. I’m not going to be a professional basketball player. I was never the best at any of the sports I’ve played. Triathlon was one where you really can get the best if you train the best, and that was really attractive to me,” he told GQ. “Like, if I can push myself harder than every other person, it’s a race against myself. I don’t have to be the best at one discipline, I just have to be towards the top at all three.”
So, did he win the first one?
“Yeah, I won that first one. It was a Malibu triathlon,” Efron revealed. “Then I won the Hermosa Beach triathlon a couple years later. Then I started doing Ironmans. My best, I got second in Ironman for my age group. But overall I was in the top 1% based on time, so it was cool.
