Elden Ring hits huge sales milestone ahead of Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC

Elden Ring is still a sales juggernaut (Bandai Namco)

Bandai Namco has shared the latest worldwide sales figures for Elden Ring, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down.

Elden Ring has been a sales juggernaut since it launched in February 2022, and those numbers look set to spike again with the upcoming DLC Shadow Of The Erdtree.

Ahead of the expansion’s arrival later this month, Bandai Namco announced Elden Ring has shipped 25 million units worldwide as of June 12, 2024, which includes digital sales.

This is a sizeable jump from the 20.5 million units sold as of May 11, 2023, so it’s clear sales aren’t slowing down even two years after launch.

To give some context to its success, developer FromSoftware said the entire Dark Souls series had sold 27 million in total as of May 2020. That figure spans sales of an entire trilogy, so this is easily the developer’s most successful title to date.

Another game that crossed 25 million sales last year was Cyberpunk 2077, which came after the release of its Phantom Liberty expansion. As such, the impending arrival of Elden Ring’s DLC will likely balloon this figure even higher.

Along with an entirely new map to explore, Shadow Of The Erdtree features new weapon types, bosses, dungeons, and skills. FromSoftware has described it as the team’s biggest expansion to date, so it looks to be a substantial addition.

While FromSoftware boss Hidetaka Miyazaki has previously said there are no current plans for more DLC after Shadow Of The Erdtree, its huge sales might make him reconsider. The studio also has a history of dropping multiple DLCs for its games, with Dark Souls 3 receiving two expansions.

For those looking to jump into Elden Ring’s DLC, you might want to check you’re prepared before it arrives on June 21, 2024.
