Elden Ring now lets you use Torrent in final boss fight and fans couldn’t be happier

Over two years after Elden Ring came out, fans can finally use their favourite companion, Torrent, in the final boss fight of the game.

While the very impressive Elden Ring expansion, Shadow Of The Erdtree, is just hours away from launching, FromSoftware has also just given the base game a chunky update.

The new patch includes one particularly well-received addition, which lets you summon Torrent the steed for the final boss fight in the game.

It’s something that fans have been asking for for a long time, and it makes the battle against the Elden Beast at least a little bit easier.

The final battle takes place in a large, open arena and it can be a bit difficult to keep up with the constantly moving boss, so Torrent is a real help if you’ve got good at mounted combat.

It’s great timing too, as many fans are playing through the base game to prepare for Shadow Of The Erdtree, whether that’s by levelling up or getting to the specific location in the game needed to access the expansion.

Fans on social media are relieved, as many have wondered why you couldn’t use Torrent in the final boss fight from the start, with some calling it a ‘game-changer’.

‘No way! This is amazing. No more 10 minute fight running after the damn thing,’ says FantasticWrap120 on Reddit.

‘Actually fixed one of the biggest critiques in the game,’ adds FireZord25.

Though it sounds like a fan-made mod, or maybe a bug that accidentally lets you use Torrent, it’s not, as using Torrent in the final boss fight is included in the official patch notes.

If you’re currently playing through the base game, and also want to take a shot at the hardest boss in the game, Malenia, one fan found a very cheeky way to beat her with relative ease, so you can level up before the expansion goes live.

Shadow Of The Erdtree drops at 11pm UK time for PC and at midnight on console.
