Elisabeth Moss says becoming a mom made her relate more to her “Handmaid’s Tale” character, June Osborne, whose baby was taken away from her in the Hulu series.
“It’s impossible not to identify more with it,” Moss told People during the season 6 premiere. She continued, “It’s definitely a more emotional experience as opposed to maybe a little bit more intellectual. Yeah, it’s impossible to not feel a more visceral reaction.”
Moss said of June, “I hope it gives some inspiration. I think June is a very inspiring character. She’s so brave. She inspires me. So, I just hope that someone somewhere takes that home with them, and it helps them in any way.”
Moss Brought Her Baby With Her on the Set of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’
On March 28, the former “Mad Men” star shared with The Hollywood Reporter, “It was incredibly meaningful to be able to end this show as a mom, I got to tell you. Because Iâm playing this character who is this iconic mother figure. All mothers are heroines, and sheâs definitely a heroine.”
Moss revealed that she had her baby with her while filming and expressed her gratitude for being able to do so.
“So many parents cannot. Any of us who had the privilege of being able to bring our kids or see our kids at work, we would every single time be like, ‘Arenât we lucky to get to do that?,’” she told The Hollywood Reporter.
Moss said of playing Osborne in the final season of “The Handmaid’s Tale,” Iâm really glad that I got to have this last season playing June with a little bit more of a visceral emotional experience of some of the things that June is talking about or fighting for. Iâm really happy that I got to have that experience.”
‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Cast Promises an Epic Final Season

Moss reflected on her “Handmaid’s Tale” character’s rise against oppression and told Variety on April 5, “I hope that she gives courage to somebody who needs it, whether itâs in our country or another country. Sheâs somebody that people can hopefully look up to.”
“It goes a little wild there toward the end, and I think itâs what the fans have been waiting six seasons for â theyâve been waiting for revolution,” cast member Madeline Brewer added.
She teased of season 6, “We had a long resistance, we had a lot of building and building and really a slow burn to what is an outrageous revolution, truly, in the end.”
Executive producer Yahlin Chang said, “We knew that this would be our very last chance to tell these stories with our beloved cast and our beloved characters, so it was definitely a now-or-never feeling.”
She promised viewers, “Itâs a wish fulfillment season, itâs a season where we just want to be really rewarding and really satisfying.”
