Emmy-Nominated TV Producer Passes Away & Tributes Pour In

Beloved television producer and writer Kevin Arkadie has passed away at the age of 68. Arkadie worked on several shows, but he’s perhaps best known for co-creating “New York Undercover” with Dick Wolf. Now, not only is Wolf honoring his legacy, but so are fans.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Arkadie passed away on December 17 after previously revealing a battle with kidney failure. Relatives on social media confirmed his death. His cousin, producer L True Green, said of his legacy, “He has forever changed the landscape of creativity … he is the reason I have remained in the arts as a writer today.”


Tributes Are Pouring In For Kevin Arkadie’s Legacy

Arkadie accomplished quite a bit during his career and received nominations and awards for significant achievements. As a result, many are paying tribute to his legacy, both on social media and via statements. 

Per Deadline, Wolf said of his esteemed colleague, “Kevin brought the voice of the next generation to cop shows and was instrumental in bringing diversity to the forefront of network television. We will all miss him.”

CJ Cohen, who previously worked as an assistant to Arkadie, said, “So heartbroken. He was not only a great TV writer and playwright, but a wonderful human being. We kept in touch after the show, and he always supported me once I became a writer, years later. RIP, dear Kevin. I will always cherish our friendship.”

Tony-winning producer Lamar Richardson also remarked on Arkadie’s legacy. He said in part, “Rest in eternal peace to this icon, Kevin Arkadie. We are deeply saddened by this tragic news and extend our sincerest condolences to his family and all those who knew and loved him.”

The tribute concluded, ” He was a true team player who was never afraid to have tough conversations, and we’ll remember that he always led with respect and deference. We’ll cherish the time we spent with him and will forever say his name. May flights of angels sing him to sweet rest, and may his soul rest in peace. His mark on his industry will truly never be forgotten.”


He Leaves Behind a Vast Legacy

According to IMDb, Arkadie had well over 20 credits as a writer and 14 as a producer. He also directed three projects. Arkadie got his start in the entertainment industry in 1988 when he wrote for an episode of “Knightwatch.” From there, he worked on three episodes of “I’ll Fly Away” between 1991 and 1993.

Some of his other credits include “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman,” “Law & Order,” “Chicago Hope,” “NYPD Blue,” and “The Temptations.” His last credit is for “Sacrifice,” a show he both developed and wrote for in 2021.
