“The sound of this widow weeping echoes throughout this world like a battle cry,” Erika wrote. “I have no idea what any of this means. But baby, I know you do, and so does our Lord.”

“Rest in the arms of our Lord, baby, as he blankets you with the words I know your heart always strived to hear, ‘well done, My good and faithful servant,’” she added. Read Erika’s complete statement here.

Erica’s tribute comes the same day she gave an emotional tribute to her husband and declared that his mission will not end at Turning Point USA’s headquarters on Friday. It was her first public statement since her husband’s assassination on Wednesday at Utah Valley University.

Remembering Their Love Story

Charlie and Erika met in 2018, six years after he co-founded Turning Point USA in 2012. Charlie once reflected on knowing Erika was “the one,” saying, “We had a very, very long dinner, which was very close to almost an interview… if they don’t check the boxes, move on and go to the next one.”

Erika shared memories of their first date in a 2023 social media post: “Five years ago today, we sat inside Bills Burgers in NYC deep in conversation and banter over theology, philosophy, and politics, and at the end, you paused, looked at me and said, ‘I’m going to date you.’”
