“The Cosby Show” star Malcolm-Jamal Warner tragically passed away at the age of 54, and many fans took to Instagram after the news broke, commenting on some of his pinned and recent Instagram posts.

TMZ first reported the news of Warner’s death, saying it was an accidental drowning. ABC News then followed that up, reporting that Warner drowned off the coast of Costa Rica on Sunday while on vacation with his family, with his cause of death being determined as asphyxia.
Along with playing Theo Huxtable, the son of Bill Cosby’s character, Heathcliff Huxtable, Warner went on to star in numerous other shows. He is known for his roles on âReed Between the Lines,â âMalcolm and Eddie,â âThe Resident,â along with voicing âThe Producerâ character on âThe Magic School Bus.â He also has the âNOT ALL HOODâ podcast, which âtakes a provocative look at the vastly different lived experiences and identities of Blacks in America.â
He earned an Primetime Emmy nomination in 1986 for his supporting work on âThe Cosby Show.â

While he began acting at the age of nine, Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s impressive career also includes being a Grammy-winning musician.
In 2015, he won best traditional R&B performance for his song, “Jesus Children,” and also earned a nomination in 2023 for best spoken word poetry album.
