Jenna Bush Hager

The “Today” show is shaking things up once again, and fans are already weighing in. After months of speculation following the departure of Hoda Kotb, the program has announced a permanent new co-host to join Jenna Bush Hager for the fourth-hour segment. Social media lit up with reactions ranging from excitement to nostalgia, as viewers shared their thoughts on the latest chapter of the fan-favorite morning show.

Sheinelle Jones Named Permanent Co-Host

After 60 different people have sat in the chair as guest co-host, Jenna announced this morning on that show that starting on January 12, 2026, it will no longer be “Today With Jenna & Friends.” Instead, it will be “Today With Jenna * Sheinelle,” as Sheinelle Jones was announced as the permanent co-host.

Of course, fans of the show will recognize her, as she is already the co-host for the third hour of “Today.” Now, viewers will be getting two hours of Jones every weekday morning.

Fans React to ‘Today’ Show Announcement

While there have been many opinions on who should be the new co-host after Hoda left earlier this year, this selection seems to be a favorite among fans of the show.

One person wrote, “Ahhhhhh 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 the right person for the job! I said it from when Hoda announced her leaving, I’m so happy for them both!”

The love continued, as this user wrote, “This made me cry 😢 Love this !!!! 🥂💫✨🌟,” and another fan added, “Best decision ever! 🙌🏾 Adding Jenna and Sheinelle to my show list!”

It seems like NBC knew what they were doing by picking Sheinelle, as the happiness continued in the comments on social media.

This person wrote, “the perfect cohost! i shall call you Jenneille 😍,” while another added, “LOVE!!! Congratulations to you both! What a dynamic duo filled with such heart and joy! Beautiful journey ahead.”

Hoda Kotb’s Exit From ‘Today’

This isn’t the first change for the fourth hour of “Today.” The show started as “Today With Kathie Lee & Hoda,” with Hoda and Kathie Lee Gifford hosting from 2008 to 2019.

Then it switched to “Today With Hoda & Jenna” until Hoda’s departure earlier this year. Her final show was on January 10, 2025, after a 17-year run.

Shortly after her exit, Craig Melvin was named her successor as co-host on “Today.” Of course, the show still consists Al Roker, Savannah Guthrie, Carson Daly, Dylan Dreyer, and Jones.

“Today With Jenna & Sheinelle” will premiere on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. ET.
