British TV fans are officially losing patience as they wait for an Emmy-award-winning series, which is being called ‘best shows on TV right now,’ to have its UK premiere announced.
The Pitt, starring Noah Wyle, has been released to rave reviews in America, with the series currently boasting a Rotten Tomatoes score of 94%.
It also won big at last night’s Emmy Awards, beating how favourites in several major categories.
The medical drama beat off Andor, The Last Of Us, Severance, and The White Lotus to land Outstanding Drama Series, in a surprising twist.
Additionally, the show’s Noah Wyle and Katherine LaNasa took home gold in the Outstanding Actor and Supporting Actress in a Drama Series categories, respectively.
The series follows the work lives of the doctors and nurses at the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital, each of The Pitt’s episodes takes place over one hour of a 15-hour shift, with the season finale dropping on April 10.

The title of the series comes from the nickname given to the hospital, where Wyle’s character, Dr. Michael Robinavitch, works in the emergency department.
Each episode is titled 7.00am, 8.00am, 9.00am and so on, with the final episode of the season called 9.00pm — and bringing Dr. Robinavitch’s shift from hell to an end.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the series has been praised for ‘setting the trials and tribulations of hospital life on a timer,’ as well as ‘combining multiple tried-and-true formulas to create a bracingly fresh medical drama.’
The final episode stunned fans, many of whom couldn’t believe what they’d just watched.
‘Genuinely cannot comprehend how we managed to get a 15-episode medical show in 2025 that stands toe to toe with the greats,’ wrote @O_Rye_N on X. ‘Thank you #ThePitt’.

@filmicshailar was similarly enthusiastic, writing the show ‘doesn’t skip a beat with masterful writing throughout,’ before admitting they didn’t want to say goodbye to the cast.
@Nieronlife also celebrated the series, saying: ‘The Pitt on Max is the best show on TV right now. Maybe one of the best ever – it’s a masterclass in tension.’
Other fans are confident that the show will be rewarded at next year’s Emmys, with film critic and journalist Matt Neglia apologising to other awards contenders because ‘Noah Wyle is taking it.’
However, despite the critical acclaim — and the fact that the first season is over — TV fans here in the UK aren’t happy, because we still have no idea when or where the show will premiere.

British TV fans have been desperate to watch The Pitt ever since it began, and a quick scroll through X will bring up countless complaints about the show’s absence from our viewing schedules.
@MrsMintMav complained: ‘Everyday that passes and The Pitt doesn’t have a UK broadcaster makes me less hopeful I will ever see it.’
@Rivertheles also worried that UK fans may never be able to watch it: ‘Everyone is hyping up The Pitt and it still doesn’t have a UK air date.’
@Milo_AFC was planning to watch the show via other, less legal means if the UK didn’t get a proper premiere date. ‘The Pitt still not having a UK broadcaster, let alone a release date, really wants to make me pirate this,’ they wrote.

However, one user thinks they’ve worked out why there are still no signs of The Pitt landing in the UK.
@daryl_millar responded with his theory: ‘I assume any brand new Max series from now on will be held back until the streamer launches in the UK next year.’
Warner Bros revealed plans to launch Max in the UK and Ireland in December last year.
Andrew Georgiou, managing director for Warner Bros Discovery UK & Ireland, said in a statement at the time: ‘Arriving in early 2026, the market-wide launch of Max in the UK and Ireland is a significant step in its global roll-out, and will be the place where audiences find incredible new shows.’
Meanwhile, Max has already renewed The Pitt for a second season, which is due to air sometime in January 2026.
Hopefully, by then, Max will be up and running in the UK so British viewers can see what all the fuss is about. Otherwise, we’ll be left in a pit of despair.
The original version of this article was published on April 4, 2025.
The Pitt can be streamed on HBO Max in the US.
